Rating: Summary: Very Tasty Recipes! Review: I found this book alot better than reading a manual plus it has alot of tips to vary the fat content of the ice cream. The one thing I missed in it is a recipe for plain vanilla ice cream. It has a good one for French Vanilla. The one recipe I also really want to find is vanilla with peanut butter swirl in it! This book is written well & very easy to understand. I wish it had the above mentioned recipes for if so, a 5 star rating would be given.
Rating: Summary: MMm... Phish Food! Review: This book is amazing! I have a fetish for Ben and Jerry's ice cream - so when I bought myself an ice cream maker I got this book to go along with it. It's easy to understand and has TONS of Ben and Jerry's ice cream recipes in it. Definitely recommend to anyone, and I have bought it for several people as gifts! So far, everyone loves it. :D
Rating: Summary: YUM!!! Review: I ordered this book with a new ice cream maker and have loved the results. My favorite is Oreo Mint, and the people I have given a quart to as a gift have loved it too. Lot's of simple and delicious no cook recipies. I like that is has lots of proven favorites, as well as basic recipes to which you can add your own favorite combinations of flavors. One I made up used their basic recipe, but I added cinnamon and pecans. Unbelievably good. If you've got an ice cream maker - GET THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Great recipe book Review: Fills a wonderful niche in the cookbook collection. I've been making ice cream for 17 years at home, with a 5 quart machine that works well. I've used a number of recipes and have lended the book out, all have loved it. Ice cream comes out great! And there it is very complete. A no brainer if you make ice cream, and no need to have any other ice cream book. The stories about B and J's company origin are fun to read.
Rating: Summary: More ice cream, less Ben & Jerry, please... Review: This book is great if you're interested in the history and hijinks of the eponymous Ben & Jerry, or if you absolutely must have the specific recipe for one of their trademark flavors. However, as an general purpose manual to making ice cream, it leaves a lot to be desired. More than half of the included recipes can be summed up as "Start with our sweet cream base, turn according to manufacturer's instructions, add chunks of [nut/candy/dough] two minutes before it finishes." Sure, that's what's worked for Ben & Jerry, but it's rather limited in scope and they could have gotten the message across in a third of the pages. It's a short, easy read, and [for the money]it's not exactly a waste of money, but for a more thorough education in iced desserts, plan on picking up another book.
Rating: Summary: Very good and not too expensive! Review: This is worth buy, it has got almost EVERY recipe for ice-cream. This book calls for 1 and a half quart of ice-cream machine at least.
Rating: Summary: A good ice-cream cookbook Review: This is really good and fantastic, I suggest you buy it, but if you have only got a 1 quart ice-cream maker, don't buy it. This book requires at least 1 and a half quarter or more... but anyway, this is a really good cookbook, I must say.
Rating: Summary: Best Book I've Purchased Review: I love this book... I may gain 200lbs but my whole family loves the flavors....something for everybody from my 2 year old up...
Rating: Summary: Clear instructions Review: Good, clear instructions for making all my favorite B&J's flavors. Good lessons in shaving, chunking and adapting, too.
Rating: Summary: Great Ice Cream Starter Book Review: I received an Ice Cream maker for my birthday a few years back, and went through many, many ice cream recipes that were complicated and not very tasty. That is until I got a copy of this book. The recipes are easy to follow, and results are consistently tasty. And there's enough information about "ice cream science" to help you come up with your own recipes if you want to get fancy.
