Rating: Summary: Three words... Review: BUY THIS BOOK. If you have an ice cream maker, you would be a fool not to buy this book. Most people do not look forward to tasting my "homemade ice cream", but since I started using these recipes, I am making ice cream for more than just my own house. The recipes taste just like their brand, except even fresher! A MUST HAVE!!
Rating: Summary: You won't be disappointed Review: If you saw this book on the shelves of a bookstore, chances are you might not pick it up: its layout is almost childish, with large type and lots of illustrations. It's not that thick or impressive. You would most likely drop it in favor of one of the more serious looking, more expensive books. And you would be making a huge mistake. Unlike ice cream recipes I picked up from other "serious" books, every single recipe I've made from this book resulted in amazing ice cream. The butter pecan was heavenly. The cookies & cream perfect. There are lots of little tips and explanations, and anecdotes. Quite possibly the only recipe book you'll ever need for your ice cream maker.
Rating: Summary: Great little book! Review: I bought a Cuisinart ice cream maker toghether with this book over a year ago, and after reading all the rave reviews. This has been the best purchase I have ever made for my kitchen. I've made many of the recipes in this book, always with terrific results. The best thing is that they give you their base recipes, so once you have that, you can experiment with any flavor combination you dream of (nutmeg is particularily great!). Most recipes require only a few ingredients, most of which you probably have already, and the results are amazing. Also, all recipes can be easily halved, in case your ice cream maker is not as big as they suggest, or in case you just want a smaller batch. All in all, this is a fantastic book, and it's worth every penny.
Rating: Summary: What more do you need? Review: This book is excellent! This book helped me turn the corner in my ice cream making. Simple recipes that produce outstanding results. If you look closely at the recipes, you can break them down into components to mix and match your own flavors. This is the only Homemade Ice Cream Recipe book you'll ever need.
Rating: Summary: Tasty Recipes Made Easy! Review: The only way I'll make something is if it's easy. This cookbook is so easy!! It uses items you probably already have in your cabinets and it tastes just as good as their pricey pints in the store! Wise and solid investment to buy this book!
Rating: Summary: Yum!! Review: You must buy this - just for the Cherry Garcia recipe - even nicer than that in the stores - we made up on batch and ate the whole thing in one day and made up a second a couple of days later and the same thing... we have temporarily had to discontinue our icecream production until our weights return to something remotely human.........
Rating: Summary: great book and a must for ice-cream fans Review: I bought this book with an ice-cream maker. the recepies in here do not require the extensive cooking found elsewhere, and that makes all the difference. These recepies are safe for children of all ages, and provide some very good treats. I found myself altering other recepies from the information in this book. Finally, you get a good piece of history about a great American company and it was easy enjoyable reading.
Rating: Summary: One of the best! Review: I have several books for making ice cream and I think the recipes in this one are the best. I wish they would write a new book as Ben & Jerry have come up with a lot of new flavors since 1987 that aren't in the book. I wouldn't normally make or buy coconut ice cream, but my daughter asked for it and it was delicious! I added almonds that I toasted myself (saute on a stove in a little butter with salt-drain on a paper towel) and it was even better! You don't need a bigger than a quart ice cream maker--just save the leftover "batter" in the refrigerator and make another batch later. The recipes do make much more than the book states.
Rating: Summary: Too good!!! Review: You can have homemade ice cream with the exact same flavors they sell at the store. Very easy recipes with simple steps. Good for beginners or experienced ice cream lovers!!!
Rating: Summary: YUMMY!!! Review: I love that this book includes recipes for both uncooked and cooked bases. Everything I've tried has been great!
