Rating: Summary: A truly useful cookbook! Review: This book is even better than 500 Low-Carb Recipes. I read that one for entertainment; this one's actually getting put to use. The promise of being able to put together a dinner in only 15 minutes has lured me back into the kitchen. Dana has ensured that the 15-minute limit is do-able as long as you have your kitchen fairly organized and have the basic simple culinary skills. When I'm not too organized it just takes a little longer. The food is not boring-the dishes are international and sometimes use less common but not impossible-to-find ingredients. That's a plus for me, because I love food that's *different*, though not to the point of weird. The chicken and fish dishes that I have chosen so far, more or less by letting the book fall open, were very very good, and I have earned some compliments from my friends and family. Tips and shortcuts will help you to get the meal ready on time without sacrificing taste or quality. I also intend to try out the 15 minute in-the-morning slow cooker recipes. I guess I've learned to trust Dana's reliability-she's a beacon of truth, not hype. And her literary style is colorful, fun, and brimming with enthusiasm!
Rating: Summary: No more excuses!!! Review: It's hard for me to find time for cooking. By the time I get home on weekdays I'm absolutely exhausted and weekend are just too short. Every recipee in this book is so easy and so quick and sound soooo delicious (I have only tried a couple so far). 500 Recipes cookbook is great too but most of recipes are more than I can handle. This book is exactly what I've been waiting for!!! Than you so much, Dana. Keep 'em coming!
Rating: Summary: Great and Easy Dishes Review: Tried the salmon steak recipe on some just caught Oregon salmon - WOW! Such a simple and easy dish that could have been from one of the finest restaurants in town. Keep up the great recipes, Dana.
Rating: Summary: Quick and Delicious Low-Carb Recipes Review: One of the challenges of low-carb eating is to get away from the sauteed-chicken-or-hamburger/salad-on-the-side kind of dinner. Low-carbers tend to fall into this habit, then get bored and fall "off the wagon." No more excuses, even on weeknights, with Dana Carpender's new cookbook. I'm able to put a delicious and legal meal on the table in a half hour, one that my whole family will eat with pleasure. These recipes are wonderful, and accessible for the average cook. Most of the ingredients are available at a regular supermarket - only a few may require a trip to the health food store, or checking at online low-carb markets.I thought her first cookbook, 500 LowCarb Recipes, was a winner - this one is another jewel in her crown! Bravo, Dana!
Rating: Summary: 15 minute low carb recipes Review: Dana has once again done it. She writes with a flare that is not only funny, it's exciting. Oh, and there are lots of great recipes. I haven't been this excited about a cookbook since I bought her last one. She breaks it down to simple steps and easy to find ingredients. An asset in this fast paced world. Her cookbooks are the dictionary of my kitchen.
Rating: Summary: RUN, DON'T WALK!!! Review: Dana has done it again!!! Dana's 500 recipe book is the gold standard for low carb cookbooks, and she has followed it up with a 15 minute version that does not disappoint. Simple yet tasty *whole* ingredients (no 'bake mix this' and 'low-carb version of that') combine to make food that you can serve even company without them realizing that it's actually low-carb! These are the ONLY low-carb cookbooks that I use and the ONLY ones that I recommend to all my friends! Tasty food, hearty portions, easy prep and cooking ... Dana makes this a lifestyle that you can follow FOREVER!!! More, Dana, MORE!!!!!!! Grab them before they sell out, folks!!
Rating: Summary: Another great low carb cookbook by the master Review: This is another great book by Dana Carpender. These recipes were much needed in our times of rushing around and thinking you have no time to cook low-carb. As always she gives the number of servings, total carb count and fiber counts that we who low-carb need most. Her recipes are delicious and the serving sizes are more reasonable than most others who add servings to make the carb count lower. Her sizes are more appropriate to what we are really going to eat. The book is divided into easy chapters, making it very simple to find what you are looking for. Be it 15 minute burgers, poultry, skillet suppers, eggs, soups or desserts...they are all catagorized to find easily. All of the recipes I have tried so far are flavorful, and quick and easy to prepare. I highly recommend this book and her others also.
Rating: Summary: She's done it again! Review: I just received my copy of this book yesterday and the recipes look great! I appreciate that her recipes are easy to make, use common ingredients and for the most part are kid friendly. Just flipping through I saw several recipes I was interested in making, and I'm always short on time, so this is the perfect compliment to my "500 recipes" book. It is always good to have more low-carb recipes to keep things from becoming boring. Thanks Dana!
