Summary: okay but not great,
Review: I thought for the most part that this book was okay, a few different food ideas, but I expected a lot more. Still doable. Okay, but not great!

Summary: Mrs Imus stole Chef Ron's recipes
Review: I was rather upset when I saw that the book finally came out!! My fiancee worked on this book for about nine months creating and producing each and every one of the recipes in this book. Deirdre never even cooked on the ranch, althogh she is very knowledgeable, she has no cooking skills so how can she claim that these recipes are hers!? I know this reveiw probably wont be displayed but I want someone to know that Chef Ron in little old Las Vegas New Mexico had a lot to do with that cook book and his name and picture should be included like the original plan was supposed to be. The only thing that stopped this is that Chef Ron became quite popular on the ranch and Deirdre did not like that at all!!

Summary: Good Job Guys!!
Review: These are very good vegan recipes. These look like they had a lot of time put into them. I am vegetarian and I use these recipes in my day to day diet. Having attended the Imus Ranch one summer, I was blown away that these dishes weren't actually meat! Looks like turkey, smells like turkey, taste like turkey! The chefs at the time were really nice guys. They worked well with each other. Good job Ron and Ruben! This book of recipes is made possible on behalf of them. Thanks!!!

Summary: Nice pictures, uninteresting recipes
Review: The Imus ranch is a fine project, but I was very dissapointed in the recipes, and the text was very uncreative. Buy the book for the photos and to help the Ranch, forget the awful cooking.

Summary: The result of being truly exceptional human beings!
Review: I use this book as an example to my children of how you can find a path in life that you love, possible make a lot of money doing it, and giving back in such a selfless, wonderful way. Don and Deirdre Imis are exceptional human beings! We are all lucky we share this planet with them!

Summary: Positive Effort
Review: The late Dainen Katashiri Roshi, mentor of author Natalie Goldberg ("Writing Down the Bones", "Wild Mind"), said it best, in typical, Buddhist simplicity: "Make positive effort for the good." This is what the Imus Ranch, and this book, are about.

Summary: A healthy food cook book I use
Review: This is the best cook book featuring organic recipes I have ever used. My family will eat this food-including my grandson. I have sent a copy to my son who has Crohn's. He has severe food allergies and cooks from scratch. These dishes are the kind he prefers and they are easy to understand and put together. Most of all they are really, really good. I could also agree with the philosophy of the book and like the thoughtful and understandable way it is presented. Bravo, Mrs. Imus.

Summary: Unbelievable!
Review: This book is a testimony to incredible hubris and the laudable feat of being able to send 150 very sick young kids each year to a cattle ranch, all for the paltry sum of $3 million per annum. A fringe benefit is that Imus gets to provide employment for all his neer-do-well relatives and bore his dwindling radio audience with tedious self-congratulatory monologues about this ranch. Only in America, with outdated not-for-profit tax regulations!

Summary: A NICE TRY
Review: A thought before talking about the book: those who don't understand the "Imus-bashing" and those who don't understand why some opinions of this book reach almost hostile level, please look at the facts:

(a) Mr. Imus has already made publically clear that this will be his retirement home someday, lavishly furnished and maintained by $$ donated by the public and their own $$, which is tax deductable, (b) most people, including me believe that after retirement, the cattle ranch will cease becoming a place for sick children and will simply become the Imus homestead, (c) despite his noble, caring attitude (especially during fundraising time), he makes frequent negative remarks about the children on air, how inconvenient the whole thing is to him, ad nauseum, (d) neither Deidre or Imus ever state how many children are actually housed during the summer, but a best guess based on what he's said over the past few years indicates about 100 or less. Many of us question the wisdom and sincerity of a couple who purport to raise millions of dollars per year for the venture, yet take in 100 children or less. Was the rest of the $$ used to fund the Deidre Imus Center for Pediatric Oncology (still, a noble effort) or the Imus Borthers food products line or the Fred Imus Autobody Express or taking trips on heavily-touted NetJets? If my guess is wrong, and its MORE than 100 kids or more, I welcome the correction if anyone in the Imus organzation wants to share that.

In summary, my guess is much of the negative remarks are a reaction to the Don-Deidre Imus bombardment of goodness and light that turned out to be a mediocre effort. packed with self-promotion.

The book is very attractive, well bound and would look fine on anyone's coffee table. You can stop there. With the exception of 1 or 2 recipies, I found most pretty bland. Organic ingredients makes these recipies beyond the scope of most persons budget, and prep time is too long unless you're a stay-at-home mom or dad.

The benefits of helping kids with Cancer, and brothers and sisters of SIDS victims cannot be overstated. Get out your checkbook, donate to the charities of your choice and let this pass. I think they've gotten enough $$$ from us.

Summary: Buy It To Help The Kids - The book is drivel.
Review: Nice pictures, especially of Dierdre Imus in jeans. The writing is out of Oprah and the recipes are enough to gag a vegan maggot. Buy it to help the Imus Ranch but re-sell it with the proceeds going to the ranch. I have my copy for sale on Amazon now.
