Summary: Just Review the Book Please
Review: I had heard about this book (yes, on Imus) and decided to read the reviews. I was shocked and saddened that the reviews were really commentaries on Imus, the environment, people with money, people without money and most upsetting were personal attacks on Imus's son. I can't understand why this is such a controversial issue, if you don't like the Imus's or don't want to buy the book, than don't. Why take this forum to vent your personal issues (and some of you have VERY BIG ISSUES-think professional help). I'm going to buy this book along with a copy for everyone I know. The book is for a wonderful cause no matter what the other comments say. Those familiar with the Imus Ranch know that children are at the Ranch throughout the summer, when the Imus's are there. Perhaps some of you don't realize that children are in school and therefore the Ranch cannot have children the entire year. I guess those of you who are cynical, jaded and mistrusting will continue to write cruel and degrading comments, which I guess is your right. Personally I would pick another issue to attack than a Ranch that benefits kids with Cancer.

Summary: Beutiful book!
Review: Just got my copy and it as lovely as described. The children's letter are of course heartwarming but the photos are superb. I haven't tried the recipes as I rarely cook but it's a well done ,nicely bound book.Since 100% profit is going to charity I am buying many copies as my gift of choice this year.I think people should review the book not deride it because of how they feel about the rather controversial Don Imus.

Summary: Nice Cookbook - Otherwise Overrated
Review: I don't see the reason for all the hype. This is a decent cookbook the primary purpose of which is to stimulate donations to the Imus Ranch for Kids With Cancer, no more no less. It doesn't rate up there with the DaVinci Code or something by Tom Clancy or Steven Hawking.

Summary: I don't cook
Review: The letters from the children who have spent time at the ranch will touch your heart and move you to a thoughtful and peaceful place.

Summary: The Idiot from LA
Review: I filled in 5 stars even though I haven't read the book, simply because I wanted to comment on the Idiot from LA who wrote his/her review on April 14.

He/she must have spent April 14 in the kitchen. He/she was able to proclaim the recipes "dull and insipid" at a point in time when the book had been out less than 24 hours. I suspect the green-eyed monster was in that kitchen, as well.

The other jealous folk who attempt to denigrate the Imus family perhaps have been fortunate enough not to have had cancer touch their child's life.

When Imus makes impolite remarks, he is, atleast, somewhat humorous.

Summary: Yikes, folks. Lighten up!
Review: It's disappointing to see that so many use their purported book review to disparage the Imus family, the ranch, Democrats and Republicans...and probably, at some point, even cowboys. I have not read the book, but am buying it and giving it 5 stars on pure principle. The ranch is a good cause -- and the Imus' are certainly doing more with their time and wealth than the great majority of us -- after all, how many children (other than your own) have you helped today? How many of your vacation days do you use for volunteer work? And let's be clear: Healthy children and cures for disease are not partisan issues. Can't you just call a cookbook a cookbook and a good cause a good cause without having to share your personal invective with the world-at-large? Perhaps you should take all that pent-up despair and direct it to a cause that you DO happen to think is worthy. And if you take the trouble to write a book to raise money for your good cause, why--some of us may even buy it.

Summary: Awesome
Review: We read of a world gone wrong in today"s headlines. This awesome book tells of a world gone "right" Spectacular photos and awesome information. I only wish I could do more to help. I tried 3 different bookstores and made each of them order at least 5 copies to put on display. Everyone really should read where the profit is going!! Keep up the great work! If you should ever need a nurse(hint hint) I would be more than willing to come help out. My sons would love it and so would I.. Keep the light shining in all these wonderful childrens lives..

Summary: Review the book..not a hate forum!!
Review: Haven't read the book yet. Heard about it from Imus. Will buy the book to support the ranch. However, this is an area to review the book not spew diatribes against Imus and his family Find a web site for that. Once I exclude the hate reviews, most people seem to like the book. I am not a vegetarian so will substitute meat or chicken. Once I have read the book, I will do another review.

Summary: More than just a cookbook
Review: The word 'cookbook' doesn't do it justice. These are great recipes for people who want to eat healthy, and don't mind taking more than the 3:00 it takes to 'whip up' a frozen dinner. Of course, given that over 50% of the people in this country are morbidly obese, I can see how they prefer ordering the #4 with extra cheese to preparing something healthy. I'm glad that the money goes towards the ranch - when is the last time you got more than what you paid for?? This book may not be for everybody (neither was 'Crime and Punishment', folks), but it's on target for what it is.

Summary: Don't waste your money on this--donate to a charity instead
Review: Perhaps I'm just sick of Don Imus yammering on and on about this ranch and that stupid chess board picture; someone really should tell him that it's tired, tedious and unfunny.

But this is a cookbook, so let's review it on its merits as such. On that score, it's a loser. It's terrible. In a word (that Imus can relate to) it's AWFUL. As a vegan and mother of four, I am always looking for ways to spice up the dinner table--this book disappoints on every front. Bland, boring and uninspired recipes.

Nice photography, but the story of the ranch doesn't impress me--as someone else noted, you're just financing his retirement home (fair game...Don Imus has made it clear that this is the plan). How nice for him and his family--a fully staffed ranch, private security, decor worthy of Architectural Digest. The mission is honorable--the execution smacks of elitism and snobbery. Sorry, I'm just not the least bit impressed by fabulously wealthy people who fly private jets from their Upper West Side $25 million apartments or $28 million Connecticut mansions to their multi-million dollar southwestern ranches to ride horses with ten kids, with the help of about 20 ranch hands and housekeepers. Typical limousine liberals. Yuk.

What a couple of frauds.

Oh, and that kid is a foul-mouthed brat who needs to be taught some manners.

Skip the book--donate the money to a local shelter for battered women and children. I received the book as a gift and plan to unload it on eBay today (and donate those proceeds to a charity that could REALLY use the money).
