Rating: Summary: SIMPLEy Delicious! Review: Ina has the most brilliant knack for making the most unfussy, uncomplicated ingredients and processes turn into spectacular dishes that taste and look like you slaved in the kitchen for days. The simplest ways to make the most impressive gourmet cuisine are right here in this indispensible book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent cookbook Review: My daughter gave me this cookbook for Christmas and I love it! I have a varied collection of cookbooks and this is one of the best - it is basic but the receipes are wonderful. Ina's tips are also helpful for entertaining and a pleasure to read. Ina gives you options and the book is very well written. I enjoy watching her show on Food TV and plan to add to my colletion of cookbooks with others from Ina.
Rating: Summary: Good Basic Cookbook Review: Though it doesn't explicitly say so, this is a companion book to her cooking show, with all the recipes from the series appearing in these pages. Basic, basic recipes, like apple pie and french toast, they'll nonetheless definitely be crowd pleasers for anyone you make them for. Probably an excellent gift for housewarming or for kids moving into their first real apartment.
Rating: Summary: Yum Review: I would have rated this as 5 stars except for the fact that many of the recipes are every day kind of dishes. Like spaghetti and meatballs, chicken noodle soup, mashed potatoes, mac 'n cheese, etc. which are pretty much staples in my kitchen.
This is a good book for beginners or people who are looking to get a quick, tasty meal on the table without a lot of fuss.
Ina is great and I've made quite a few dishes and all are very good. Overall, I'm happy I bought it, but was just a little disappointed it didn't offer a little more variety or new ideas.
The book is nicely laid out, offers meal suggestions and the photography is very well done. It's also nice to see that she included a special section for kids too.
Rating: Summary: ANOTHER GEM Review: I like anything Ina! I love her Food Network show and I love her
cookbooks. This is just another of her helpful, easy, delicious
collection of good eating. I, however, wear shoes when preparing
one of her recipes.
Rating: Summary: Go from cook to gourmet cook Review: I was never very good at cooking and became quite discouraged using other cook books. I found that the reciepes would never turn out. I have since bought all 3 of Ina's cook books and my family and friends can't believe the meals I have been making. I have tried about 30-40% of all the meals in each cook book and I would make each one again.
The only suggestions I have are: Cut the reciepes in half if you are 6 average eaters or less. Lastly, watch your waist line .. their is a reason why her food turns out so YUMMY!
We all love it and hope you do too! Keep it for those special occasions and for your family's sunday dinner!
Rating: Summary: Recipes you'll make over and over....and over Review: Some recipes in this book I have made so many times that my friends and family say, "Oooh, please make your lemon angel food cake" or "Are you making the parmesan roasted asparagus?" I have too many favorites from this book. But here are a few:
parmesan roasted asparagus--i always burn my fingers when these come out of the oven because I can't help grabbing one (or two or three) and eating right away.
flag cake--the frosting is to die for
orange pound cake--freezes perfectly for last minute company
homemade gravy--make your thanksgiving day guests swoon
meatballs and spaghetti--unless you're italian you probably don't know how to make these. i sure didn't
challah french toast with orange zest--the orange zest blows traditional french toast away.
Rating: Summary: Not the best of the three Review: This is my all time favorite cookbook. I use it again and again. For my family, friends, company, and kids. I've given out many of the recipes to those who've tasted the foods I've made. These recipes are easy, not too many ingredients, big, colorful photos of the finished dish on each page. The foods are broken down into sections, i.e., breakfasts, desserts, kid meals, etc...Easy to find something quickly to make! My favs have been the broccoli/bow tie pasta dish for kids, the birthday cake and the flag cake. Both my kids love to help in the kitchen, and I always give them a job to do while cooking. They love this book and all the recipes I've made from it. You will NOT be disappointed in this one!!!
