Rating: Summary: I adore this book, staple in my library Review: I could not live without this cookbook- it is by far my cooking Bible! Ina never fails to please- her cookbook is manuverable and the directions are clear. Great Cookbook, highly recommend, especially to new couples!
Rating: Summary: Easy, Simple Comfort Food Review: I normally can't find a cookbook that has more than one recipe I like and use but this book is an exception. I've tried a few recipes from this book and they are great! It's simple to make and the directions are easy to follow. My family absolutely loved everything made from this book. Furthermore, most cookbook's recipes usually turn out to be too salty for my taste, but this book is perfect. All the natural flavors from the ingredients were brought out instead of being killed by too much salt and pepper. Overall, I am very satisfied with this book and am looking forward to receiving another cookbook written by Ina Garten.
Rating: Summary: Simple and Tasteful Review: I am really picky about my cookbooks and if I can't find a winning recipe within my first four attempts... the book goes straight to the garage sale pile. This book went straight to my "keeper" shelf after trying the first recipe (the Parmesan Chicken). Easy directions, great pictures, and ending results that are good enough to serve company on your first attempt.
Rating: Summary: Basic can be beautiful! Review: Sure the book has basic recipes - but that is the point! Ina is great! Her commentary is witty and adds to the recipes authenticity. She is a real person with a real business on Long Island (:-) and therefore these are tried and true real recipes! I have made the Farfalle pasta with broccoli, the Roasted asparagus and the vinagrettes ..... all fabulous!! You will not be disappointed with this cookbook! Wonderful!
Rating: Summary: Tasty Recipes Review: I like this cookbook just as much as her other two, probably because I enjoy serving comfort food for company. All of the recipes are really great and go together easy with no fuss. I own a lot of cookbooks and the only thing that really annoys me about her cookbooks is her commentary. Otherwise, I use this and her other cookbooks often.
Rating: Summary: Gourmet taste that easy to prepare Review: I love her books. Her recipes are easy to make, and they taste wonderfully. Her style is casual, and laid back, unlike Martha Stewart's style. She takes ingredients you have on hand, or that are easy to find and makes them a bit more special. One of my favorites was her Roasted Parmesan Asparagus, its a great way to utilize one of the summer's special vegetables. This book is beautifully illustrated with pictures of the food, and the recipes are very clear and easy to read. She offers a variety of foods in terms of appetizers, side dishes, main dishes, and desserts. The book deals with food to make your life easier, not food that you are going to spend hours in the kitchen with. If you are a gourmet, cook, or even if you are someone that wants their food to taste gourmet, I would suggest this book is worth a look.
Rating: Summary: Cooking with Style. Review: I think that this latest Barefoot Contessa cookbook has kept up with the quality of Ina Garten's previous books. This is cooking with simple and elegant style. The recipes are fun and not too difficult for the average cook. Ina looks like she's having so much fun in the kitchen that it's hard not to join in her enthusiasm for cooking and entertaining.
Rating: Summary: Another great job! Review: I am happy with Ina Garten's third cookbook & enjoy the other two as well. Yes, the recipes are simple, but that's the joy of the book. No running to four different gourmet grocery stores to find exotic ingredients. That's not always what you're trying to do Tuesday night after work. These are simple dishes made with great ingredients and presented well. Most of the recipies are comfort foods that have been improved on and some others are probably a few combinations you haven't thought of. So far I have tried: Real meatballs & spaghetti, buffalo chicken wings, roasted winter vegetables, parmesan chicken, tequila lime chicken, curried chicken salad, mustard vinaigrette & herbal iced tea (sounds average but is quite good). Everything has turned out extremely well, and she always gives full menu suggestions and pictures. Can't wait for the fourth book!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I love Ina's first two books- in fact, they are my favorite cookbooks. I am so sorry to say that her much-anticipated third book was disappointing. While the parmesan chicken and frozen key lime pie were acceptable, the other recipes did not have the same appeal. I agree with the other reviewers who write that it seemed that she hurried too much with this one. Regardless, I am looking forward to her fourth book.
Rating: Summary: Sickening Review: To make it quick, any forty dollar cookbook that's recipes include french toast, fish and chips, and chicken noodle soup has to be one of the most useless, anserine creations of mankind.
