Review: Overall Welbrock does a good job in discussing how-to implement a SAS data warehouse. The parts he admit he doesn't cover are the problem. The architecture parts, such as why you need to document the business requirements and let them guide you in the implementation choices, are the half that will make or break your data warehouse project. The book has pointers to do the technical implementation, but don't look for the business criteria for defining a successful data warehouse. You'll get a data warehouse to work, but it might be one that's not needed.

Summary: An excellent overview of the SAS System's approach to DW.
Review: Welbrock has successfully filled a previously empty gap in the documentation of the SAS System. This is the only book we've found that clearly explains and defines the role of each "module" of SAS, and also sets up parameters for the measure of the success of a Data Warehouse. The tone and delivery of the text is easy to follow, and at times- appropriately amusing. Recommended reading!
