Summary: Don't waste your money.
Review: I enjoyed this book as it got away from academia and theory and got right to what was on the test. Many say you cannot just memorize definitions and terms and pass the exam, while this is true, Endorf's book cuts to the heart of the matter and gets you the material you need to pass. Obviously someone with no experience has no real hope, with Endorf's or anyones book. But for those who have security expertise, Endorf's book is a great review the week before the exam. Recommended!

Summary: 2nd edition is a Great book! Very informative.
Review: I enjoyed this book very much. Unlike others who say it is choppy I think the information was very concise and to the point. It is much like a "Cliff Notes" to the CISSP. It gets away from the fluff of many of the other books and is to the point. There are editing issues, but overall I liked this 2nd edition as it was very up to date. I found the ISF best practices a helpful guideline.

Summary: Unbelievably Bad Book
Review: I used three books and my many years of experience in the computer security profession. Of the three, this one was my second favorite. It is clearly written. Also, the font of the text is pleasing to the eye. The material is presented in a "Cliff Note" type fashion. It is a memory jogger. But if you don't truly know and practice your profession you will be lost.

I would suggest reading, in order: Shon Harris's masterpiece first, this review: Carl Endorf's second, and ONLY if you have time Krutz's & Vines.

Summary: The true scoop!
Review: Overall this book is great. I have to disagree with those that state that it was not good. As a security proffesional of 20 years, I thought the information was concise, accurate and right on target for the CISSP exam. Compared to other books that spend 5 pages on the history of cryptography, which will never be tested, this book is more straight forward.

I emailed the author and a second edition is on the way, double the size and corrected the grammer issues. Now if you are looking for a literary master piece, then this is not your book. It is a very casual book and is more like reading someones notes for the test, but it gets the job done. I would highly recommend this book if you want to pass, as long as you are not offended by it's lack of grammer and editing skills.

Summary: Great review
Review: This book, while not the best edited, has some great information not in the other books and is a great review for the week before the exam. I have the second edition, which is greatly expanded and revised. Great book!

Summary: Don't waste your money.
Review: Too high level and there is no meat or clarity to any of the concepts that the author attempts to explain. I am struggling to get through the book. In a way I don't even think it is worth finishing.

The book has a money back guarantee but you have to send the book back within 120 days and you have to have failed the test twice (900.00).

I would get CISSP for Dummies or Security Engineering instead.
