Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent *practical* treatment of database design
Review: Just the right amount of theory. Clear concise definition/explanation of the important topics. Nicely explains where database design fits in with the overall systems analysis process. Footnotes and bibliography are excellent as well pointing you to the sources for full explanation of topics not directly related to the focus of this book. The book gives brief explanations of related topics where necessary but doesn't rehash a lot of material covered elsewhere. The only negative I can find is the information on hardware/storage. It's a little dated, but that's not surprising considering this book was published in 1992. This book is a worthwhile addition to your library.

Summary: An excellent start that I still turn to for help
Review: When I wanted to get a start in Relational Database theory, I looked through a lot of books. This is the only one that got right to the meat and stuck with it. It's great: no fluff, no hopelessly advanced stuff to get lost in... just the stuff you need and want.
