Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Learn WML easy !
Review: I really like the approach this book is taking.
Using MobileDev, the software included, really made it easy for me to develop my first WAP application.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good Starter
Review: I thought this book was a really good place to start learning about developing WAP applications. I develop Web applications using ASP, SQL Server, and Access and was looking for a quick guide to developing WAP applications. This book was like reading one of the Sams Teach Yourself in 21 Days series (the good ones that is), and helped me get up and running with WML in no time. It is geared towards the MobileDev IDE, but, given that it's in the title, one should expect that. And that's not a bad thing, because the software is very easy to pick up on especially if you've used other IDE development environments. And if your someone like myself who likes to use basice editors/SDKs until I know the technology, they've included a few basic WAP SDKs and emulators from Nokia and OpenWave. Also, unlike the previous reviewer above, I had no problems getting someone from Speedware Corp to respond to my questions regarding a runtime error I got on the first install. The only CONs regarding this book is they don't give you access to the DB functionality in the trial of MobileDev. Not really sure why, as it makes no sense at all to me, but it's not included in the trial. Not a big deal though if you manually set up and manage your ODBC/OLE connections with whatever you currently use. Also, there's really not a lot on WML Scripting either. Read this to get started and then get the book WAP Integration as a book to really get started using some of the more advanced features of WAP...

Summary: AVOID this book
Review: This book is of little use if you're not using MobileDev, but after registering 3 times, emailing and calling the company I still haven't received the "key" that's needed to get the software to run.

The version on the included CDROM is also out of date, as is the Nokia SDK.

Save yourself the hassle.
