Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent source of information about vendors
Review: I bought this book thinking there would be an extensive discussion of web data mining as it relates to marketing. Although Mena comments on a wide variety of applications, his book is rather a long list of software vendors with detailed information about their solutions. Managers interested in implementing anlytics and intelligence applications (and in need of personalization systems) will find Mena's benchmarking efforts very useful, but won't be needing the book afterwards. Which makes it a little expensive for something that will be soon outdated, with the market changing so rapidly.

Summary: Finally, someone sorts it out!
Review: This book should be required reading for every executive, marketing, or sales manager remotely connected with e-business, e-commerce, or making the e-channel work. In fact, industry analysts, investment and equity researchers, and consultants - anybody interested in companies engaged in making the e-channel "work" - should all be reading this book to get a simple, clear, and definitive picture of the vast array of efforts going on in the e-business optimization industry.

This is not a technical book -learning how to optimize e-business takes a lot of knowledge and can't possibly be contained in one book, however: this is a book that offers a concise guide to and classification of the many, varied e-business optimization solution approaches out there. Weaved in and thoughout are subtle, simple, and helpful recomendations, insights, and sometimes just plain descriptions of "how things work".

As mentioned, an indispensable guide - but with a bonus. A companion website will allow me to stay up-to-date in the fast changing world of e-business, with - hopefuly - more insight from Jesus as to what's working, what's not, and the explanation for the latest tools and techniques that arrive. This is almost like having a virtual consultant or guru I can refer to regularly.

I'm glad Jesus moved in this direction with his second book, he truly has helped people like me and provided a service to the overall business community by once and for all carefully laying out and delineating the vast array of data mining, web mining, CRM, eCRM, personalization, and e-business optimization efforts out there. Thanks!
