Summary: The first "Office 97" book you should buy.
Review: A great book for a great price. I received "Woody Teaches Office 97", read the Intro, started on Chapter One, and headed for the keyboard. This puts my other Office 97 books to shame, even though the cost twice as much. Woody's writing style is informative and entertaining, making each learning session a pleasure. If this is the first Office 97 book you buy, it will probably be the only one you'll buy.

Summary: The Best entry level office book I have seen
Review: As a personal computer consultant, I have been searching for an entry level office book to recommend to clients. I had not found one, until I saw Woody Teaches Office97. I will be recommending this to all my clients.

The only negative is there is nothing in the book about Access.

Summary: Better than the "dummy guides" and lots of fun too!
Review: As a software trainer and consultant, I am always looking for good books. This book is not good -- it's GREAT! The information on pgs.643 to 647 is worth much more than the price of the book! A must have....

Summary: Better than the "dummy guides" and lots of fun too!
Review: Clear, concise and easy instructions on how to use MS Ofc 97. Points out the good, bad and ugly of Microsoft products. Can turn any novice into more of a professional than he/she ever dreamed of! I recommend this book to anyone who will be working with MS Ofc 97! Don't pass this one up!

Summary: The ultimate answer to, "How to make MS Office behave."
Review: I have Microsoft Office Professional and had barely scratched the surface of its considerable potential. I wanted to learn more and find the answer to the questions, "Why is it doing that?" and "How do I make Office do what I want?" Upon hearing about Woody Leonhard's new book, "Woody Leonhard Teaches Microsoft Office 97", I immediately ordered the book from Amazon.com and have been very glad that I did. This is just the book that I needed to learn how to make MS Office do things the way that I want them done. With Woody's excellent and humorous help you quickly learn how to configure and tame Office to your needs. Woody's tips on how to set up Office and the inner workings of paragraph marks, headers/footers, tables and much more help you take immediate control of your documents. At this time I am half way through this book and I can hardly put it down to do anything else. I would recommend this book for anyone using Microsoft Office 97. This book is a great bargin and a must have for Microsoft Office users!

Summary: Introduction to Outlook 98 - Excellent
Review: Until now I have practically only been reading the Outlook 98 part of the book, as this part was the most urgent from my point of view. I have certainly not been disappointed. But on the other hand I had not expected less as a keen reader of Woody's Office Watch (WOW) and Woody's Window Watch (WWW). I am really looking forward to the rest of the book. It is a pleasure reading and learning from a book where there are a lot of humour included.

Summary: This book is a Great Teacher
Review: Woody's book (and WOW site) offer the very best practical and error-avoiding advice on using MS Outlook 97. Using Outlook is very different from using other Office applications. The file management aspect is thoroughly confusing and inflexible. Woody's book helps deal with this thorny issue.

Summary: Great starter book on Office
Review: Woody's book is a great starter book on Office, but covers Word more thoroughly than the other applications. For the material the book does cover, the book does really well. There are helpful exercises and screen-shots on most topics. If you need more depth though (if you use Office a lot, I think you will), you'll need to find additional materials (Woody does provide more references). For less than $20, you can't go wrong.

Also check out his books in his "Annoyances" series..."Word 97 Annoyances," "Excel 97 Annoyances," and "Office 97 Annoyances." If you're into details and the inner working of these products, these are great books. Also I like the "Microsoft Office Resource Kit" book (aimed at computer support persons).
