Review: pretty fair book but much too confusing and like the typical hp calculator this one, written by a hp engineer, tries to cover all bases and be all things to all users, in impossibility. stilll, for the money this is a good book.

Review: The world of finance can be a confusing place and this book goes a long way toward clearing up the confusion. It is addressed specifically to the HP 17BII calculator which is a very cost effective financial calculator. The author does an excellant job of clearly illustrating basic financial concepts of time value of money (TVM)through the use of clear examples and time line illustrations. By systemically working through the problems using the book as a guide I came away with a much clearer understanding of both the calculator and financial concepts. Using the same approach the author tackles Cash Flow calculations in such a way that anyone can follow the concepts. The real strength of this book in my view is chapter 9 when the author explains the SOLVE menu of the HP 17BII. I was able to apply formulas using the SOLVE feature right away which allowed me to calculate financial ratios for some companies in which I was interested in investing. I've recommended this book to several friends and associates and they too have been greatly rewarded by an increased understanding of finance and the financial calculator.
