Rating: Summary: A huge mistake; don't waste your money Review: I've bought several titles from 'Teach Yourself' collection and this is definetely the worst of them. It stains the good reputation the series has built. Amazon.com shouldn't offer it for sale without showing the table of contents because the title is misleading, almost a lie, and you end up with something completely different from what it advertises. The title should be 'Digital Image', not 'Digital Photography'. I expected to find all the important issues regarding photography here, adapted to the digital peculiarities. Instead, the author mentions computers, editing programs, 'how to make money with it', scanners, etc, but very little on photography techniques. He neglects the basic and waste pages and pages explaining what couldn't be explained there, because he wants to 'teach' in 2 paragraphs what requires 1 full book. What's the point in mentioning PhotoShop and 10 similar programs in 3 pages? It doesn't help us at all! He tries to 'teach' at the same time the obvious ('keep the lens of your scanner clean') and complex things in 1 short paragraph. When things get complicated, he just spit a hint and it's up to you to make it work. At the end, you're all on your own, so you don't need this book. But the most annoying is that digital photography itself is deeply neglected. (...)
