Rating: Summary: Quick help for the Non-Geek! Review: I am an average computer user but by no means a Geek! I type, I email, I download, and I browse the web. Beyond that, anything else is no-man's-land. Yet, when I found this book I was thrilled because I could find a simple answer to my simple questions. Like, how to print the page sideways instead of longways. How to print an envelope. How to cut and paste all those websites I used to manually re-enter all the time, and most of the time would be incorrect by the time I rewrote them. This book is like a cookbook to me. I refer to it again and again when doing something I don't do very often and continue to forget between times. If you want a quick reference, with nice large type and shots of your screen, with no Geek language (and a glossary as well!) and you don't have time to putz with those huge, intimidating manuals - then this book is for you. I'm getting so much more use out of my computer now that I know how to do so many more things with it. In the long-run, it's saving me time AND headaches! MJF
Rating: Summary: Great Computer Tips for Seniors Review: I purchased two copies of this book, one for my mom and one for my mother-in-law. They both have it right by their computers and refer to it regularly to learn something new. The big type and spiral binding make it very easy to use. Everything is written in simple to understand language with excellent how-to illustrations. This book is wonderful for seniors or any beginner wanting to feel confident in front of their computer.
Rating: Summary: Simple computer solutions Review: This easy to read and use book has been an excellent resource to help me to solve frustrating computer problems. In the past, I have wasted valuable time trying to fumble through how to do what I need to do on my computer. Something that should be so simple always turned into a long and frustrating process. "Taming your Computer" has an easy to read question and answer format that has helped me to find a quick and easy solution. There are also pictures that show you exactly what to look for on your screen. The text is written in a way that is extremely simple to understand and follow. The glossary of "strange computer terms" allows me to get a clear definition in a language I can understand! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a great reference tool at their fingertips. It would be great for anyone from beginning computer users to people who are computer literate but want an excellent resource. I think it would be great for anyone with a computer that wants a time-saving way to have their questions answered so they can get on with what they are doing!
