Rating: Summary: The worst book I've ever read Review: I totally agree with the previous reviewer's comments. There are a lot of typos. Demo program is not working on NT4. Jump over topic and nevercome back. Promise more but give less. No systematic way to explain C++ and NT. When talk about NT, it is a massy compilation of the existing material. The whole book is organized illogic and in a massy style. My advice to the reader, don't even look at it.
Rating: Summary: * A huge disappointment -- don't waste your time or money * Review: This book just plain failed to deliver. It continually talkedaround the subject matter, always promising more detaillater, but later never came. Many chapters and sectionsmerely repeated what had been said before, or punted:the old 'outside the scope of book' dodge. It was touted as a programming book, but there was little in the way of code or theory, just a lot of general overview already available in a lot of other places; too many screen shots, frequent typos, and most damning: references to Win95 -- remember this is supposed to be about NT!I bought the book looking for NT specific programmingtopics, not a general introduction to the Visual C++ environment, or vague generalities about generic topics. My advice to the author and publisher: next time don'tbe in such a hurry to put something out that it shows
