Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Short but effective
Review: I'd rather pay for this book than $5000 for the 3 courses mentioned below if all I want to learn is optimization. Anyway, some of it I had learned in MCP studies like RAID and pagefile config. Some I had not heard of before reading this, like multi-processor setups and formatting correctly for performance. I'd call this more of a "quick start" guide. It's short but it gets the job done and you know how to tune your system after reading it.

Summary: Interesting new ideas
Review: Interesting new takes on some of these ideas. The tips on structuring for minimal router hops were useful. I never thought of routers as areas of congestion before reading this. Also enjoyed the author's philosophy on backward compatibility as I run into those sorts of frustrations at my company. Think I may show my boss that so he understands why it isn't cost effective to do cheap upgrades.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very good
Review: It was refreshing to read a technical book that held my attention and was accurate. Also I didn't see any typos that tech books usually have. For the content - very interesting. Original ideas. Good hardware info.
