Rating: Summary: adobe couldve done better Review: as someone who is overly familiar with photoshop and fairly new to online design i learned some of the basics of web design techniques from this book - it was a very easy read but there couldve been a little more detail on some of the techniques used - considering this is a book with the name adobe on the cover i expected more - if you have never used photoshop or any adobe products i would shy away from this book - i bought this book in the store for the full price of 40- and i dont think it was worth it - i would loan it to a friend if they were looking for a specific technique and were familiar with the program already but i would not tell them to buy it
Rating: Summary: I'm surprised at other people's reviews. Review: I do admit that this book is probably not for the beginners, but people who are designing corporate websites usually are not. This book will NOT teach you how to create "cool effects" on your web pages, but rather teach you the concepts of web strategy and design. I doesn't teach you how the graphics are created using Illustrator and PhotoShop, but rather how and when to implement them. It's my philosophy that a design book should stick to the concepts of design rather than specific effects. In that aspect, this book does well.
Rating: Summary: Multi media Review: I read this book to and from work in the subway and to to be honest, knowing the basics of photoshop and illustrator is a must BEFORE you buy this book. If you think that you'll be up and running with the best web page in the world after reading this book, think again. If you have experience with ps and ai, then by all means get this book (and hope go got what you paid for).
Rating: Summary: Falls short in some regards Review: I would agree with some of the other reviews here. This is not a beginners book. It assumes at least an intermediate level of understanding of Photshop, Illustrator, Pagemill, to execute some of the excercises. To the books credit however, it is very nicely laid out -easy to read -in fact images guide you more than the text.
Rating: Summary: Typos and Type Treatments Galore Review: Primarily a photoshop primer, this book contains a disgraceful number of typographical errors. Sloppily produced and rushed to print, it makes one wonder if the instructions are equally error-ridden.
Rating: Summary: Multi media Review: Very informative
