Summary: A fast and good track for beginners to intermediate level
Review: Course designed to get new programmers up to speed quickly. It contains everything needed to become an intermediate level VB programmer. It assumes no previous programming knowledge. However, if you already program in another language, you will find this book an easy and enjoyable way to get up to speed on Visual Basic. It is based on the popular Visual Basic 6 Interactive Course, this book is connected to an instructional Website. The online site offers test and programming exercise material not found in the book, access to a threaded discussion list moderated by a subject matter expert, plus a searchable online reference title for each course. Over all you will progresses logically through introductory material and beginning concepts all the way to advanced and complex professional programming techniques. A good book for beginners.

Summary: Excellent Book for Serious Starter
Review: Every book has his own target reader. It is impossible to have a universal 5-star book for every-level reader.

I had been looking for a book which can let me learn VB seriously as the starter for a while. Further, I already bought 2 books about VB and, but felt not good. However, this book is the book I was really looking for. Here is the features I feel good.

1. Very concise--The lines are the stuff I want to read and I can understand, no showing up, no joking, no academic garbage.

2. Very good balance between the explaining and code demonstration. This will make reading very effecient and effective.

3. With good exercise which is simple and not tricky and make you feel that you did learn something and you can do something.

I must say again, this maybe the garbage book for experienced VB developer, but it is the excellent to me!!

Summary: Rehash of Waite Press book bought out by Sams
Review: I must disagree with the reviewer from Bangkok, Thailand. Over 2/3 rd's of his review is verbatim off of the web site for Sams and their description of the book suggesting a cut and paste, paid review. It is nothing more than a rehash of the Visual Basic 6 Interactive Course from Waite Press, which was bought up by Sams. In the first 300 pages of the book I found 203 errors!!! I am not joking. The biggest was the annoying problem of seeing variables named one way in the examples only to be named differently in the accompanying text. When I contacted the authors about it only one responded by email. I sent examples of what was wrong and strongly suggested a very serious review and editing of the book. I never heard from him again. Until this is done this book should be relegated to the trash heap, as it will frustrate beginners to the point of not using nor learning Visual Basic. That is the worst thing about this book. Please save your sanity and hard earned money.

Summary: Great!
Review: I've never programmed before, this book has taught me everything I needed to know and have made a few rather large programs now.

The examples are good (there is heaps of work to do!) and logical.

The book is big! - The online stuff I haven't worried about really.. It's just tests online - I dont know if you get a certificate or something at the end, but if you did it would be cool.

If you know nothing about VB6, this book is for you!

Summary: A lot of errors
Review: It looks very informative, however it has a lot of errors. Most of the examples do not work. The book has a CD providing an online registration and discussion form. I completed the registration, but there is nothing on the website.
