Rating: Summary: this is terrible Review: Don't kid yourselves, folks. This book is content light! After spending your money and investing your time, you'll still need to buy another "real" book about FP98. It's as if the author read the official MS FP98 book, forgot half of what he read, then, put the remainder through an "idiot filter" and put it into print. When I finished it, I couldn't help but think, "Gee, I guess anyone can write a book about a program as popular as FP98 and it will be successful. Heck, maybe even I could do it. Let's see...a snazzy cover, some catchy bs lines..." I guess the market for this stuff is so hot, they can sell anything to folks desperate for help. Friends, if you are serious about utilizing the power of FP98, this book is a joke. Don't waste your money. Amazon has lots of super books on the subject so check them out instead. By the way, don't you think Amazon is great? I love this place! :-)
Rating: Summary: Macmillan Is To Blame Review: If you go to the author's website ... he explainshow he wrotethis book in six weeks using an alpha version. Of course there wereerrors, but despite his repeated attempts to get the publisher to correct the mistakes Macmillan refused. They went on to publish this good but flawed book for four reprints, never fixing even one typo. For a while Mr. Shafran had a support site to help people with the mistakes, but has since taken it down as his relationship with Macmillan has soured. I suggest contacting Macmillan's Support Page ... for help or to complain about this product.

Rating: Summary: A decent Overview Of Most Frontpage Functions Review: It is an overall clear, concise, and well organized instruction manual that goes over most Frontpage elements. However, for some of the more advanced elements, such as style sheets, it barely touches, and instead suggests buying more books from the same publisher. Some of the examples in the book are too advanced for the instructions it gives. Would reccomend to anyone not familiar with Frontpage and just starting; it is an excellent first step and is very informative about various web topics.Unfortunately, it is really nothing more than that, despite its claims as a comprehensive instruction manual.
Rating: Summary: Very well written technical book Review: This author really knows how to write well! So often technical computer books read like a cookbook. This book is one of the best. It gives you a basic overview of FrontPage. The author knows how to discuss relevant material and leave out the unnecessary. His judgment here is excellent. It will have you up and using FrontPage right away. Plus you won't fall asleep trying to read it.
Rating: Summary: Great introduction to FrontPage! Review: This book is a good reference to getting started with Frontpage. It helped me get up an running in a few minutes. The author's Web site provided up to date info on Frontpage 98 and his book and has an interactive discussion where we can ask him questions. A must buy to learn FrontPage
