Rating: Summary: A wonderful book with a great Web site Review: Do not be deceived by the thickness of this book(it is rather thin). This book has told me more about what I NEEDED TO KNOW about using VBScript than all the others I have checked out. No other book that I have seen showed the form.submit method or how to return the trap the contents coming out of of a combo box. Too many of these books concentrate too much on all the theory and are not written like "I wonder how I can do this or that". I just wish I would have found this book first. I guess I'm saying is BUY THIS BOOK if you want to learn VB Script by good examples.
Rating: Summary: Good client side, but very basic Review: Focuses entirely on client side scripting, which is only supported by IE, but does a great job at it. If you know nothing about VbScript and want to get a "quickstart" then this book will be perfect for you.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book with a great Web site Review: This book is perfect for learning the easiest scripting language around and the wonderful companion Web site will keep you going long after you've finished reading.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book- allows users to get quick grasp on VBScript Review: This book was great-- from the very beginning you are writing scripts and learning by example. Everything is very conversational and easy to understand, but without falling into the trap of seeming condescending to advanced users.I'd recommend it to anyone trying to get up to speed on VBScript. (As an ASP developer, I find it invaluble.)
Rating: Summary: Good starting book if you can tolerate all the errors. Review: This is a decent book for getting started on VBScript and very basic HTML. Make sure you know HTML or have a good reference handy since there are enough typos and mistakes to really frustrate a beginner. (The CD that comes with Laura Lemay's ActiveX and VBScript contains an HTML book that got me through.) I downgraded the score mostly due to the typos in the code like missing quotes and such. The section on Frames gives step by step instructions but leaves out a vital part while not explaining things very well. The book was obviously never proofed by someone who didn't know the subject and that is the target audience. It's not an HTML book, but if the instructions are there, they should be correct. The sample code is available from a web site and the first one I copied did not work due to careless typos in the script code. I found it highly annoying.
