Rating: Summary: Incomplete, Incorrect, Misleading Review: Based on the reviews, I was expecting a book that was correct and complete. This book is neither. For example, the author makes a point in the <FRAME>tag on page 363 that you should only use SCROLLING=YES if it is necessary, completely omitting the SCROLLING=AUTO attribute that allows the browser to decide. And then there are the missing tags; ABBR, APPLET (really!), BDO, BUTTON, DD, DEL, DT, EMBED, FIELDSET, and that's only up to the start of the F's... some of those have been around since W3C 2.0 for heck's sake... The bottom line for me, is that I cannot rely upon this book; I have no confidence that it will be correct on any issue I use it for. I still have found no better book than Osborne's The Complete Reference HTML for HTML reference material.
Rating: Summary: It's gotta be the best Review: Honestly, this is the book that God used to create the world. It's got everything a web developer could ever want....HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, VBScript ... It's a complete A-Z reference of ever attribute, method, event, tag and opject. It does have a few errors, and a few startaling ommisions (it's missing <nobr> for example, and some of the older netscape-only tags). But everything taken into account, I can only pray that they come out whith a revised edition to fill in some of the newer syntax, and expand the browser version differences for the 5.0 browsers. (the book has more than you want to know about the 3/4.0 browsers on both PC and Mac) and to break down the browser support detail for individual properties and methods (not just by tag or object).
Rating: Summary: Excellent Reference for web page design Review: I actually purchased this book a couple of years ago and it has proven to be indispensable. I refer to it on numerous occasions to get the specific syntax, properties, methods, and examples for using tags and Javascript (and VBScript) objects. I love this book and would recommend it to anyone. The only downside to this book that I could identify is that it is relatively old. There are newer items that are not included such as the good ole <SPAN> tag. However, I'm sure there must be another version in the works. I sure hope so because this books is great.

Rating: Summary: Excellent comprehensive reference! Review: I turn to this massive hard cover volume contiuously. HTML, Dynamic HTML, JavaScript, VBScript... this volume brings it all together. I have read some of the previous reviews that state that this book has omitted some things; perhaps so, but speaking as one who spends well over a grand a year on books I can say that this is one of the best values ever. Being organized alphabetically like a dictionary, it is extremely quick to use and enables me to "drill down" to what I need right away. I highly recommend it to all web authors, both novice and pro.
Rating: Summary: Errors do not detract from book's value Review: Yes, there are some errors and omissions in this book; it is inevitable with a reference work of this size and scope. But that does not in any way detract from its value. I turn to this book constantly while coding my web pages; whether it's for HTML or Javascript, I always find the answer I need right away. I would be lost without it.
