Summary: Pretty good book, but lacking in some areas
Review: Overall, this is a pretty good book, but I found some of his explanations to be a bit lacking. For instance, client-side image maps. I am a complete beginner to HTML (& the Web and the Internet, for that matter), and while I understand the difference in the types of image maps, I had a very difficult time understanding how to use them. However, I picked up Laura Lemay's book (TYWeb Pub w/ HTML 3.2 in 14 Days), and found her explanations to be very thorough, with very well laid out, concise steps.
On the other hand, this book covers material that Lemay's doesn't, such as a complete job description of a "real" webmaster and the skills involved. I think if the two got together, they could write a wonderful book. If you get this book, you might also consider picking up Lemay's or perhaps William Stanek's Web Publishing Unleashed.
But this book is definitely for the absolute beginner to Web publishing, and Mohler does an excellent job of introducing web publishing to the initiate

Summary: Excellent Book to begin your journey as a Web Designer
Review: The pace is easy to follow and the author provides clear examples all the way through the end. The goods are in the second week, when it shows you the tools to create HTML pages, but the chapters in the first week are invaluable if you will take Web Design seriously. Great buy!!

Summary: Great overall descriptions of the various webmaster duties.
Review: This is a great book for those of you who want to pursue becoming webmasters. It covers many different areas of web designing, including technical aspects, graphics & design, basic HTML functions, etc. To me, the best chapter was on how to go into business for yourself as a freelance web designer...very inspiring and practical. Although it delves into HTML, the complete beginner should probably pick up another book that better describes HTML in detail to supplement this one. This book is definitely a must.
