Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great book for beginners -ONLY
Review: Great book for beginners. This book is a great place to start in learning C++. It covers all the basics like it says in the synopsis above. My Intro to C++ class used this book. This book is NOT the place to learn Object Oriented Programming, however. The last chapter mentions OOP and shows an example class structure, but not much else on the subject (there is a reference to buying another book by the author to learn more). The book is written in language that is easy to understand, and the examples reinforce the lessons well, for the most part. As a book for beginners I rate it four stars. When you are ready for more info, I recommend Herbert Schildt's C++ from the Ground Up. It makes a good follow up to this book.
