Summary: Excellent!! Only if you are serious about learning
Review: First I thought this book over explains everything. When I started encountering territories that I'm not familiar with, I started to greatly appreciate the author's method of teaching. This book teaches you by getting you working on real projects from scratch. While you are following the step by step instructions, the author explains the science and whys of these instructions. The only drawback of this book is that project 1 seems to be tested only on Internet Explorer. I tried the files with Netscape 4.79 and 6.2 they both showed some flows that took me hours to figure out how to fix. Also I had to use a behavior extension to recover the mess, in Netscape, made by adding layers. Apart from that all my projects have worked perfectly. The second part is code intensive which I really appreciate. This book will show what's going on behind the scenes. Therefore you won't be limited by what Dreamweaver can offer. It will show you the way to go beyond Dreamweaver's ability. This is not a "for dummies" type of book. You have to follow the instructions very carefully. All the mistakes in this project turned out to be mine. For the effort made to write this book I cannot give less than five stars. I wouldn't hesitate to buy Professional Dreamweaver MX if it exists.

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: Good, Step by Step tutorials in well written English. Simple concepts tp follow. The Title is Misleading. I would have named it Beginning to Advanced Dreamweaver MX.

Summary: The Best Book Ever for DWMX
Review: I bought this book with lots of worries that I won't benefit from it cuz it says beginning but I did learned a lot.
This book is meant for ppl who know HTML, ASP and JavaScript. It teaches you step by step how to benefit from DWMX to expedite your code or to automate parts of your code such as the repeated regions and navigation tools.
Most of the problems I have face, I discovered that they were a typo from me or syntax error that I did.
I really recommend it

Summary: Not the same quality as other WROX publications
Review: I purchased 3 WROX books in the past this with good success. I expected the same thoroughness, but unfortunately, couldn't find it in this one.

As a somewhat seasoned developer using both Visual Studio and GoLive on our Corporate Intranet, I only needed to acquire familiarity with the features within Dreamweaver for my own personal use.

I enjoyed the overview and first few chapters in this book, and soon began to appreciate the potential this book might have. At the end of chapter two, I compared my project with the illustration in the book. They didn't look the same. I was determined to find out why, so I compared my code with the downloaded code. They were different. I rechecked the steps in the book looking for the missed steps, but didn't see it.

If you want to learn Dreamweaver MX, and don't mind checking your code with the downloaded code, then this book might work for you. For me, I'll look elsewhere.

Summary: Disappointed with some Reviews
Review: I purchased this book from our local bookstore. I browsed through the pages and liked what I seen. I then brought this book home and excitingly began reading and attempting to follow the "Try It Out" exercises. In reality, I spent too much time struggling with the typos, inconsistencies and missing steps.

After about two weeks, I gave up using this book. I just recently discovered Amazon and more importantly, discovered the customer review section. I'll pay special attention to this section and choose my next book when both a "Look inside this book" feature is provided, and after I decipher which reviews are real versus those from those sponsoring the book (two highly rated reviews from the same location on the same day).

Summary: very useful if you can get past the mistakes
Review: Numerous errors in this book almost brought me to a standstill.

Using http://www.google.com and http://www.experts-exchange.com, I was finally able to get everything to work.

The examples used in this book are amazingly useful, once you get them to work. I'm keeping this book as a reference.

Side note: I had to ditch Dreamweaver MX 2004 as it was far too buggy and crash-prone. Stick with plain Dreamweaver MX.

Summary: Awesome book
Review: When I bought this book I wasn't sure if the content would pleasure my need of building a good website. I did not have any experience in building websites. The start was rough, you need to be precise but the screenprints are a good help. After the first chapter I got the taste of it. I learned a lot and I have to say: I'm proud of my new website. Because of the book I also realized that Dreamweaver is designed in a smart way. A very good book, also for beginners.
