Summary: WOW !! I am impressed !
Review: As far as I am concerned, this book paid for itself in the first 5 minutes.
A few weeks ago, my adult daughter installed AOL on my computer (without my permission) and it "took over". It replaced my browser with theirs, and changed my ISP. When I changed back, it would always make me wait a few minutes before allowing me to log on. Although I bought this book to look for another problem, I was waiting to log on when I recieved the book. I tried what they said to do, and FIXED MY PROBLEM!

If you don't know much about computers, but want to fix something that bugs you about the way yours is acting, then I whole-heartedly recommend this book.
Gotta go look up Defrag now.

Summary: Disappointing and Incomplete
Review: I though I would see more troubleshooting solutions on ".. Has Performed an Illigal Operation.." and Fatal exceptions errors. I am having numerous difficulties with a Windows 98 installation and though the book would help me more than it did.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Lots Of Good Info Here
Review: I work with computers for a living, and have to admit that I knew most of this stuff. But, I read the book cover to cover and discovered some hints, tips, and tricks I didn't know.

Unfortunately, as with most Microsoft publications, it can be difficult finding exactly what you are looking for, and Microsoft seem to be in denial regarding common problems like "Your Computer Has Performed An Illegal Operation," so you'll have to look for these answers elsewhere.

Still, I think even experienced users will find something useful here, and the book will probably pay for itself many times over for the novice or intermediate computer user.

Summary: The Book for Newbies
Review: If one is new to the Windows 9x platform, then this is your book. It has many helpful troubleshooting tips and fixes (step-by-step) throughout its pages. If you would like to learn how to "fixit" yourself this book is a great start. It is easy to follow and understand. I cannot say that I didn't learn anything from the book, but (as I stated) it is geared more for the beginner. I gave it a 5 star rating with this in mind.

Summary: Microsoft knows Microsoft's products
Review: In this book you'll find a map of troubleshooting takes you directly to the solution. I think every user must own this book, because there are many problems may cost too much if you fix them by a specialist. So my advice is, own this book whatever your experience level was.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Enough help you going
Review: This is a very useful book for the beginners. However, if you a handy person as far as computers are concern then you may want to consider a book that has some more info. in it. Overall, it does help novice window users. AR
