Summary: Excellent book
Review: From a long time "Cisco guy" this book spells it all out. Thorough and well written. What can I say? I'm now addicted to Linux. Later...

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I use it every day
Review: I found this book to be a very useful reference for me on the job. If you are new to Linux this book is perfect for getting you started and familiar with the Linux system. The writing style is straight to the point which makes it very easy to look up information on the fly. I use it every day.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Concise, inclusive, with no extra baggage.
Review: I found this book to be very helpful. I have used it every day for a week and have yet to find an error. What I like about it and the whole series is that it departs from the doorstop theme that most of these books follow. Solutions to common problems are addressed in a coherent manner. It is a great book to have if you haven't memorized every thing about linux yet.
As allways if you need the absolute latest information on drivers go on line!
If you are going to buy one Linux book this is the one. I have a dozen or so, but this is pretty much the only one I use now.

Summary: Excellent book
Review: I have used this book more times than any other book that I own about Linux (about 8 books total) and I must say this is the most clear and concise book of all! Not to mention the most space saving and less bulky of them. If you just started with Linux BUY THIS BOOK! Unless you think bigger is better. :-)

Summary: Portable guide
Review: Takes over were the O'Reilly books leave off. An excellent guide to carry around. I especially recommended it to serious newbies or people who don't deal with linux constantly. All the basics are covered here. And the book is laid out in an intuitive manner! This is a big bonus when you are in a hurry.
The driver info is a bit dated, but who expects the latest info on drivers from a dead tree?
You can survive in a linux environment with this book.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Interesting, but Outdated...
Review: The book has a good introduction to some the software with RedHat, but its pretty obsolete if you want to learn the latest such as grub, different filesystem types, CUPS, etc. If you need more specific details on options and all, look elsewhere, this book just skims it on the surface...

Summary: Great for installation, but tails off rapidly after that
Review: This is only a really great book if you want to set up your computer exactly the same way the author did. As a newbie (with some Unix experience), I was dissapointed to find the info is not very in depth after the installation & setup chapters. The installation process walk-through is not only dated, but at several points the author says there are other options, but I'll just assume you're going to do this my way.

It was fairly helpful while I was installing the OS, but I don't think I've touched it since.
