Summary: A Good Book Inspite of Typos
Review: I found this book rather useful, straight-forward and well written, inspite of the amount of typos which is rarely seen in a technical book. It is more useful and accessible than, say, "Teach yourself shell programming in 24 hours", which I also bought. It is worthy of a corrected edtion

Summary: My opinion
Review: I used this book as a textbook in a college class. It would have been totally useless except we had the instructor to fill us in on the incorrect examples on *every* page. It is obvious why it went out of print.

Summary: Would be pretty good but the TYPOS!!!
Review: It seems that this book was very well thought out. It also could really be a good book for a person who has had some shell scripting experience, however, the typos are tremendous. A person who has some shell scripting experience will be able to see the mistakes in this book, but a true beginner to shell scripting should stay away from this book, because the typos will confuse you, like they did me. Thank goodness I sought another Unix book and got the correct answers. I was so angry with the typos in this book that I emailed the author, however, I didn't get a response. The only good thing that came out of this experience is that I never buy a book unless it's at a minimum "SECOND EDITION", so that hopefully the typos are cleared up from the FIRST EDITION. If you're brand new to shell scripting, stay away from this book.
