Summary: Decent reference for type treatments
Review: But if you are a newbie at photoshop you'll probably find yourself mindlessly following the concise step-by-step instructions without really learning how the sometimes complicated procedures produce their type magic. In such instances you may be better served by websites such as actionfx.com, which allow you to produce some truly jaw-dropping effects in seconds.

Summary: Excellent Reference
Review: I found that this has been and still is an excellent reference to creating cool and interesting type/effects with Photoshop 5.0 or later. I have been using it for several years now and still keep going back to the book for additional ideas. I do not recomend this book to begining photoshop users, for the instructions are somewhat technical. I have used/modified most of the effects in this book and my clients love the work. For a reference I have found it invaluable.

Summary: Can't get anything to work
Review: I tried several examples from the book and couldn't get any of them to work! Either the book leaves out critical steps or it's just plain bogus information. What a joke!

Summary: The Starting Place
Review: If you are a well versed but not very advanced photoshop user this book is GREAT. It is a great way to move from a basic understanding of the functions in photoshop to a more advanced level. The effects do not have to be used on text and because of this I use this book as a quick reference almost all the time.
