Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Pretty basic stuff - I didn't learn much
Review: It's not bad, and might be decent for students who need a broad but not in-depth review of the basic concepts in a knowledge-based system. It is not fit to be a reference by any stretch.

I'm a software engineer with no background in knowledge based systems, and I need to write code that uses a rules-based strategy. This book was really not very helpful, even though it devotes an entire chapter to rules. Coverage of the RETE algorithm is brisk and not helpful. "Artificial Intelligence" by P.H. Winston seems to be a bit more comprehensive, even though it doesn't limit itself to knowledge-based systems. I would recommend that one over this one.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Finally a comprehensible book of IA!!!!!
Review: Most of the books of IA are very annoying to read. Dr. Gonzalez got to write a book that reveals the details of a knowledge based systems. If you are involved in the construction of systems based on rules, buy this book now.
