Rating: Summary: Just didn't like it Review: I hate to give a bad review, but this book is not all that it's cracked up to be! I bought it because the jacket said that it had all the information about pdf that I needed - "regardless of platform, software, or media." I realize that, as a Windows user, I am probably not the average pdf-user, but come on! When I needed to, I couldn't find anything in the index, and when I finally stumbled across the information I wanted, it was all for the Macintosh platform! Let me tell you, the Mac and Windows versions of Acrobat are NOT the same (unlike other Adobe products). I'm sure that if I were a Mac user, I'd be thrilled with this book. Unfortunately, the parts of the Windows instructions that are left out are so big that I'm writing step-by-step instructions in the margins as I figure them out myself! Anyway, if you're a Windows user, be forewarned - this book seems to be aimed at Mac users and often the examples and instructions bear no resemblance to the Windows environment.
Rating: Summary: One of the few good PDF books Review: Not only is this one of the few good books on Acrobat and PDF it is one of the greats. You will not regret spending your money on this. What it doesn't tell you (a rare problem), the author will in replies to your emails!
Rating: Summary: How about an Acrobat book for Windows User Only Review: The book was extremely through in its discussions, but in today's hurried environment, I didn't feel like reading through mounds of Macintosh instructions to find out how to do something in Windows. I felt like the Windows instructions were a footnote to the Macintosh platform. Where's an Acrobat book written for Windows users. After all, we make up 90% of the computer environment.
Rating: Summary: Just didn't like it Review: The writing was hard to follow, and everything was Mac-based. Isn't the whole idea of PDF that it is cross platform???
Rating: Summary: A good guide Review: This book is good for a beginner and a expert. It is very informative. Though some complain about being MAC oriented, It never occurred to me as such. With the assistance of this book and along with Acrobat Classroom Book I have created a PDF document on a single CD-ROM consisting 13720 pages. The publication contains all the Laws' of Sri Lanka. And I am in the process of digitising all the Reported Case Laws of Sri Lanka that runs in to nearly 23000 pages. All this was made possible by the knowledge gained from this book.
