Summary: Nice, Quick, and Concise Bluetooth Reference
Review: Before I bought this book, I looked through the 1070 pages of the Bluetooth specifications and saw the need to write a book about bluetooth, which in a more understandable form describes this very important technology. After I received the book and read through most of it, I do not see the need for another Bluetooth book anymore. Most of the things in there are very well and understandably described without sacrificing the necessary technical details. Thanks, you saved me a lot of time. I also hope you keep it updated, when the next releases of Bluetooth come along. My best regards, Wolfgang Singer

Summary: Decent overview, but no code examples
Review: Don't expect that you will be writing applications using the Bluetooth's protocol stack right after reading this book. There are no code examples. I was able to write some Bluetooth application but after some intense study of some sample software. I suppose this book is mostly for beginners starting at ground zero who want to get started on understanding how Bluetooth works. I also wished it talked more about the differences between Bluetooth and 802.11 like it did for IrDA

Summary: Harald Blaatand ¿Bluetooth¿ II Revealed - Thank You!
Review: EXCEPTIONAL! At last a definitive technical resource to answermy questions. The book provides a detailed overview of the BluetoothProtocol stack and the reasoning behind most of the decisions thatwere made for the V1.0 specifications. I recommend this book to thosethat are new to the Bluetooth wireless technology as well as theseasoned network technologists...

Summary: well balanced
Review: I found the book very effective. In the country where I live books about Bluetooth are still relatively few and are far too basic for people with already some engineering background like myself. I enjoyed the nice balance between insights on what the process of creating a world wide standard looks like and the detailed but easy to read description of the standard itself. I would strongly recommend this book to those who want more than just a few illustrated usage cases.

Summary: Technology Simplified and Clearly Explained
Review: I found this book an extremely helpful tool for understanding the Bluetooth landscape. It clearly and concisely explains the specification, and the various protocols and profiles--even for laypeople.

The book is laid out in a logical manner, with helpful diagrams and charts throughout. Readers of this book who are Bluetooth novices will become fascinated with the specification and its possibilities. I look forward to a second edition with updates on new versions of the Bluetooth spec.

Summary: This book will become the Bluetooth technology primer!
Review: I found this to be a expectedly well-written book for one covering a technical subject so well. It is written from the perspective of insider-engineers who were hands on in the development of the Bluetooth wireless specification. I found the background, development history and methodology particularly facinating. The technical components of the specification are laid out in a logical sequence and the book is written in an easy to understand manner and with the intention that the reader understands the technology. These are obviously not guys off in some Ivory Tower, but rather they are highly skilled engineers who are willing and able to speak with those of us who are not so deep into the technology. Highly recommended.

Summary: An excellent and comprehensive book
Review: I just completed reading this book. This book provides a very in-depth description of the BT spec coupled with insider's view of the BT standards. I now feel at ease with major BT components and feel confident to implement BT application (as part of my job responsibility). I very strongly recommend this book to *anyone* who is interested to know about BT.

Summary: Re: This book is hard to read!!
Review: I received this book recently and tried to
assign some time to read it but already after 2
chapters, I can't continue. It is written
in a manner that is so dull and hard to
sleep. I either put that aside or snooze
off. Please, try to write in a tutorial and interesting
manner than writing it like a data/
standard specification document! Please
accept this input seriously.

Summary: A well-written book for those with an interest in Bluetooth
Review: The Bluetooth technology offers more than a world without wires. It offers us a world in which our electronic devices may communicate with one another whenever we want them to communicate.

Bluetooth devices can form ad-hoc piconets without the need for an installed infrastructure. Think of sitting at a conference table and sharing the files on your laptop with the laptops and PDAs of your colleagues; carrying your laptop into an office that is not your own and being able to print a memo on a local printer; bringing your cell phone into a rental car and having it work with an embedded hands-free car kit. This promise may be fulfilled because of the work of the members of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) to develop specifications to assure interoperability for Bluetooth-equipped devices.

The authors of "Bluetooth Revealed" have helped to develop the Bluetooth specifications. Their book contains an introduction to the technology and the Bluetooth usage cases, It moves quickly to the technical details of the Bluetooth specification, discusses the Bluetooth profiles, and also provides a brief view of the future of Bluetooth, Do not be fooled by the whimsical cover art; this is a serious book for those with a professional interest in Bluetooth. The book is well written and has many well-drawn illustrations. If you like Bluetooth, you will like this book.

About the Reviewer: I qualify as a Bluetooth insider. I represent my company (a Bluetooth promoter that also employs the two authors) on the Bluetooth Car Profile Working Group. My enthusiam for this technology is apparent in my review.
