Summary: A darn good book but needs to be updated
Review: In this very impressive book there's a good amount of stuff that's no longer in use; at the same time, video hardware being the most dynamic area of PC hardware research and development, there's by now an awful amount of new stuff since '94. Information in that area is very scarce, therefore a new, up-to-date edition of this book would be highly welcome. The format, though, is perfect, all-encompassing, it's a very good work, that due to the topic is, unfortunately, bound to quickly become obsolete no matter how well done. A new edition needs to be produced every year, imo.

Summary: A great reference for graphics programmers
Review: Loaded with general graphics subsystem information, plenty of graphic theory and a ton of examples, this reference is a must-have for any serious graphics programmer. In the style of Richard Wilton's, "Video Systems for the IBM PC and PS/2 Systems", this huge manual provides a reference to almost every aspect of the graphics processing of the IBM PC. The book contains C and assembler source as well as a lot of sound theory. It is essential to you reference library.
