Review: We are living in perilous times. This book describes one all-too possible view of the near future, and how people can survive it. After 9/11, I found the scenario in this novel to be more likely than ever! The preparations the main characters in this novel made are exactly what should be done to be ready for any number of traumatic events--whether it is a terrorist use of nuclear, biolgical, or chemical weapons, or a stock market collapse, or anything else that would cause disruption of normal chains of supply and commerce and a breakdown of civil order. Be ready. Be vigilant. Buy this book!

Summary: The best fictional book based on fact! A must READ!
Review: This book is phenominal in its content for fiction based on fact. I was really reluctant at first to read it because I don't read fiction period! I bought it on the recommendation of a friend and started reading the first page almost immediately(before I got it home). I truely believed that this was going to be boring. I got passed the first page & I ended up finishing it in a little over 3 days! This book is the type that you keep on your shelf under the subject matter of "reference material." You read it the first time through then you go back with a highlighter! If you don't get this book you'll probably regret it later. It is a wealth of information. Mr. Rawles has really spent the time to research the material for the book.

Summary: Be Prepared!
Review: I must say that I'm very happy that I discovered this book. As I do with most books, I quickly tried to read it cover to cover but I soon found out that this book had so much information, I had to slow down and enjoy the book. I have since reread it several times. My original copy got so dog eared from being read by friends and being loaned out, that I had to buy a second copy. Everyone I know, that has read this book, has loved it. True, this book describes a "worst case" scenario, but that first chapter was a little unnerving. This book will help you hope for the best....and prepare for the worst.

Summary: A valuable book for the preparedness-minded
Review: Patriots is two books for the price of one. There's the book that tells of an economic collapse and the resistance to the tyrrants that attempt to take power afterward, and then there is the book that teaches and informs. While I would wager that there's hundreds of post-apocalyptic novels out there to choose from, 'Patriots' is a little different. What sets this book apart from the others and makes it worth reading (twice) is the extensive how-to sections. If you want to learn what it will take to survive a worst case scenario like the one presented in the book, start here before you buy anything else and be prepared to take notes. Is this great fiction? No, probably not. But so what? 'Patriots' is one of the most important books you will ever read. If you think there's a "Bad Moon On the Rise" and want to do something about it, start here.

Summary: Finally a believable and informative senario.
Review: For many years i have bought different books on the subject matter contained in this book and after reading part of these books found them either not interesting or not believable as far as the plot of the story.Also most stories have some kind of agenda i.e either raciest, anti-government or hate running through the story line.The story line in this novel is a very real possiability and a down to earth approach as to how to overcome the situation a group of like minded friends finds themselves in.The author really did his homework as far as information on many subjects pertaining to being put into a survival situation.This is not only a good read but also packed with a lot of everyday usefull information.This book will get your head out of the sand and get you thinking.Enjoy the book.

Summary: One of the best researched books ever
Review: This book is a real gem. It is both a gripping piece of fiction, as well as a useful resource on survivalism. I would not have thought it possible for a survival book to be so interesting, but this one really is. The storyline itself is very interesting and holds your attention, but in addition to that the book is full of little pearls of wisdom about how and where to acquire things that make one better prepared. When I was in the early stages of the book I was impressed by all of the references. Later when I was most of the way through the book and still kept finding more and more nuggets of wisdom I was truly amazed. The breadth of knowledge displayed by the author on a wide variety of subjects is truly amazing. This book is very well researched, and best of all, it is also very interesting to read. Several years ago this book might have been simply an interesting work of fiction, but now in the post-9/11 world it is something to think seriously about. Also, the opening chapter which focused on the start of the economic crunch reminded me of the summer of 1997 when Asia and Russia's economic crises coupled with the near bankruptcy of a large US firm called Long Term Capital Management and almost sent the world into economic collapse. Add to that some other recent events such as the bursting of the dot com bubble in 2000, the stagnation of the economy shortly after 9/11, and the high gas prices of 2004. It just goes to show, the circumstances in this book are quite possible, more so than any of us would like to admit.

Summary: If "TSHTF," You Had Better Have Read This Book!
Review: In Patriots, Rawles fully develops the critical themes of the importance of self-reliance, teamwork, preparedness, and dedication to our Constitution and our God. That's what "Patriots" means, to me. But what really uniquely struck me (as someone who benefited from excellent training by VN era SEALs many years ago on Uncle Sam's dime) was Rawles unique emphasis on tactical awareness and readiness. His characters always "stay tactical" appropriate to the situation, and the importance of that cannot be overestimated! This is something glossed over in 99% of books, where the heroes go merrily "smoking and joking" along, and somehow always develop ESP, or get a lucky break, just in time to avoid disaster. It doesn't work that way! In reality, in a SHTF scenario, survivors must always "stay tactical" using 360% security and all of the other drills and SOPs Rawles lays out so well. If there is one thing I hope readers take from Patriots, it's that lesson! If they do nothing else, I hope that after reading Patriots, survivalists will be encouraged to include some very good military field manuals in their libraries, and learn the small unit tactics and SOPs laid out so convincingly in Patriots. The best "stuff" in the world is of no use if you can't keep it, because you left holes in your security, or you were careless. The tactical SOPs written about in Patriots are designed to make the survivor cover all of these bases at all times. Rawles entire book is a great reminder of the critical importance of incorporating brass-tacks tactical SOPs in any realistic survivalist preparations. I very highly recommend that it occupy a center space on every serious survivalist's bookshelf.Matt Bracken, author of "Enemies Foreign and Domestic."

Summary: highly recommend this book
Review: This was a great read. I learned a lot. I have often wondered what I would do if things began to go wrong with our society. Most of us are used to turning on the faucet and having water come out; plugging in the lamp and the light comes on. What if we did these things and no water came out or there was no power? Most of us grew up with modern conveniences and are so used to things working that we just can't imagine life without them. This book helped me to visualize this scenario vividly. Beyond that, this book hypothesizes the populations reaction to the loss of our modern system and its not pretty (and not too much of a stretch to imagine). As a result of reading this book I was motivated to prepare for a day when things don't work.

Review: This is the most entertaining and informative book that I have read with the exception of the Bible. If you do not believe that there may be trouble in our Country's future, this is still a great read.

Review: This is one outstanding piece....A lot of time and research as obviously gone into its writing. There is practically nothing missed in preparing for this event. Reading between the lines there is a lot of preparation that we can all do. In this story you learn the good and bad of a finality. I only wish the book was longer. I will have to read this again so I can write down all of the ACTUAL information and use it to my advantage. Superb piece of work. I recommend it to all.
