Summary: Bravo, two thumbs up
Review: A few months ago it was next to impossible to find a useful book on Linux. It seems that things are changing for the better. I read from this book for 5 hours, before I bought it. The reason for this screening was, that I didn't want to buy another lemmon (and yes, there are too many out there). I am happy to have this book in my shelf and I would like to thank the author for another step I was able to climb because of his work. Thank you. A true 5 star book.

Summary: Good scope of topics
Review: After scanning a few pages, I know that is what I am looking for. The author makes a good choice of those topics related to server. Very practical and helpful. Suitable for those people having some degree of UNIX/Linux knowledge. The slightly inaccurate command-line options sometimes drive you to the 'man' pages.

Summary: A very good book , worth 10 starts
Review: For a long time i was looking for a book which could teach me to become a good Linux servers administrator. I can tell I am not new to Linux world, but what I was missing was the background and UNDERSTANDING of what I was doing with my Linux machine.

This book gave me the eyes to UNDERSTAND Linux and answered most of my qestiones.

I successfully was able to put my own ISP server together. This book thought me a great deal about Linux and the world around her.

I personally think the author has done a great job, since the author is a guru in Linux world. The text is good easy reading reading and understandable. It covers most of the issues that an administrator must know.

I recomand this book to everyone who didn't get their answers from "man pages" and "HOW-TO's" and got confiused from people in news groups who themselfs needed this book to read.

therefor, for the lack of 10 stars in this site i give this book 5 starts.

Summary: Excelent Book
Review: I am windows user and i wanted to run a server using Linux so i decided to read this book and this book explains everything you need to know to get any type of server up and running. It also talks about security and how to protect your server. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to run a linux server.

Summary: Incompatible with Red Hat Linux 6.1 (Professional)
Review: I bought the Official Red Hat Linux 6.1 Professional from the Red Hat web site. I have had problems throughout this book in using it with that software. For starters, this book doesn't cover the new GUI installation options. Further, every time I try something new (e.g. Apache installation) I find that files are not where this text says they should be. Some problems are simple to overcome, but some are not.

Having said that, the book isn't bad in its coverage of some of the general things one might want to do with a Linux server. It's readable and has some nice examples.

Perhaps if you use the Linux off the (included) CD, Red Hat 6.0, you won't have these problems (but who wants to install yesterday's Linux?). If you want to use this text with the latest Red Hat, caveat emptor.

Summary: Wants to migrate from NT, Read this book
Review: I bought this book because I wanted to add more scalability and flexibilty than NT to our network. I must pay your attention to one thing though. Don't use the included CD-Rom because it has and old version of Red Hat Linux Server. Buy the Red Hat Linux 6.1 professional because it's a newer version with a newer kernel. Don't worry about UNIX commands because most of them are included in the book. Good Job M. Kabir

Summary: Good but needs more
Review: I bought this book because the company i work for wanted me to setup a new network, so i figured linux, and redhat being the pinnacle of linux I figure use Redhat. But i wasn't sure how to do everything so i bought this book. I think parts are good in this book but it needs better organization of the chapters and needs better explantations on how to do stuff. Because i have already read the DNS chapter twice trying to figure out what he was talking about. Overall good book though gives good examples it just needs more of them.

Summary: Best Linux Book !
Review: I have read several books on Linux. Most of them are confusing. This one of the best book on Linux which I have read. This book is for people who have some knowledge of Linux. This book brought all togather for me.

I would suggest that the author use more diagrams in the book so novice readers also follow the book. A good example is Chapter 21 (Building a Multiserver Web Network) which is well written with diagrams explaining the process.

Keep up the good work Kabir!
