Rating: Summary: This book is good for the very beginners. Review: After reading the book i was a little disapointed because it was to basic for the level of knowledge i had in 3D. I gess i should have expected that, after all it was for Dummies. My biggest disapointment was that i could not find anything on the new physic fontion and that was exactly why i was buying the book. I would recommand that book for people just starting in TrueSpace and in 3D, it's a good book for beginners.

Rating: Summary: An excellent trueSpace resource guide not just for beginners Review: Caligari trueSpace3 for dummies is an excellent resource guide not just for the beginner. It covers from animation (Inverse and Forward Kimatics), organic modeling (metaballs), texturing, tips, and best of all: how tSx (trueSpace Extenssions) increases the overall usefullness.
Rating: Summary: Unfortunate title, highly useful book. Review: E. W. Swann's trueSpace guide is a terrific add-on to the Caligari trueSpace 3.0 User Manual. Where the manual is technically oriented, E. W. takes you through a frequently humorous and logical tour of the software and its capabilities. The book is filled with good examples and highly useable tips and tricks. Mr. Swann's personal tips and techniques are also very enlightening. Overall, I found "Caligari trueSpace3 for Dummies" to be easy to read, easy to understand, and very helpful for the beginner and the moderately accomplished user of the trueSpace software. Old hands at 3D modeling with this software will appreciate the examples, and useful suggestions too. My two complaints are that there aren't enough color photos, especially for the examples on the use of color and light, and I wish there was a volume control for Mr. Swann's droll humor so I could turn it down on the third or fourth read of a helpful paragraph.
Rating: Summary: Clearly written... A great series as well... Review: For fairness I should say I have only skimmed this texts contents. But what I have seen was well written and easy to understand. I am familiar with the "For Dummies" series and being a TS user I was happy to find a text in the series that deal with this product. I own the book and from what I have read has greatly helped me understand the newer features of the 3rd version of Caligaris TrueSpace. I dont envy the person who takes on the task of composing a text that explains the functions of a version of an excellent 3D graphics program with all of its unique concepts and vocabulary. But I do applaud the person who can explain these concepts and words in such an informative and at times humorous way. Nice work...
Rating: Summary: Ts3 for dummies fills in where the Bible left off Review: Great going for Mr. Swan. TS3 for Dummies got me quickly up to speed with Truespace 3. Whenever I need a quick help on a tool I might use less often out comes Dub's book and the info I need is invariably there. The book is well written and easily understood. jude

Rating: Summary: Simply one of the best books this year! Review: I had always thought creating graphics were beyond my ability (okay, way beyond - I can't even draw stick figures). Mr. Swan's book has changed my life forever! His easy to understand style of writing, coupled with a sense that "anyone" can do 3D graphics and animations, make this "The feel good book of the year". With Amazon's great pricing, I can't think of $25 better spent. I can now create all sorts of interesting models as well as knowing that my web site graphics are my own. Kudos Mr. Swan, you should receive an award for creating, what has to be, the greatest graphics "tool" of the year. Keep up the great writing, I look forward to your next piece of indispensable literature.
Rating: Summary: A great source for tricks and tips on 3D animation Review: I have read all of the books published talking about caligari products, and this is definately one of the best around... It's a great source for tricks and tips on how to be a better computer artist and 3D animator. A lot of it's contents stand good for most 3D programs. This book helps to bring out the best of trueSpace in an understandable way for most of us... it is a *MUST HAVE* =)
Rating: Summary: Excellent introduction to Truespace3 Review: I have read Truespace3 for dummies. Before opening the book I was exactly that, a dummy, I hadn't done any 3d modeling at all. I found this book to be a marvelous introduction to truespace3. I was impressed with the step by step directions the book had. Each tool in truespace was explained just enough to allow the reader to experiment successfully, and not get lost in intricate detail. I had previously bought the Truespace2 bible, and was greatly disappointed. The bible explained every little nuance in truespace, but had extremely poor explanations and rarely gave examples on how you would use some of the tools. Disapointed and on the verge of giving 3d modeling up, I decided to buy truespace3 for dummies. It was worth it because the book helped me regain my interest in 3d modeling. The book was one of the rare computer books that I could read from the beginning to the end. The author of the Truespace3 for dummies brings this about by adding humor, keeping the reader attentive and interested. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who is a beginner to 3d modeling, it is the best truepsace introduction out there.
