Summary: Decent amount of knowledge
Review: I'm not a student using this book, so I can't give any opinions of it in that aspect. But I can tell you this book definitely is not as useless as others have implied. If you don't understand the basic concepts of Windows 2000 before diving into this book, of course it won't make any sense. Anyone attempting to pursue MCP/MCSE should have years of prior experience. That's the problem with all the MCSEs. They are certified only because they can remember certain information. If you truly know what you're doing, this is a good book.

Don't let the unanswered questions at the end of each chapter scare you off. As an ancient zen master once said, "Seek not to find the answer, but to understand the question."

Summary: stay clear of this book
Review: If you have an instructor that is using this book - then i would not think much of the instructor. The book is obtuse , disorganized and never sufficiently explains anything. It is full of errors and the lab manual that i got with it is aggravating - it is so dry and half witted. Spend your money elsewhere .

Summary: Do NOT Buy This Book
Review: Is the book itself written well? Well, yes. Why then do I give this a "do not buy"? The reason is simple. Those of us who are professionals and are trying to gather study material to get us through the new hurdle that Microsoft has thrown at us, namely getting recertified before our NT 4.0 certification runs out, need what I will call a complete study guide....you know, one with the answers provided. When I wrote to the publisher, asking why the answers were not provided, I was told that it was being used as a text book in schools. Thank you very much, and I wish you (publisher) all the luck in the world with the kiddies in school, but for me, this book is useless. If you are a professional and not a kid in school, save your money. Do NOT buy this book! Amazon has plenty of great books that you can purchase, but this is not one of them.

Summary: This book is terrible!
Review: The questions are erroneous and even worded completely incorrectly with not just simple typos, but wrong words -- such as confusing "account length" with "password length" restrictions. I am using it for a class, and the instructor just decided to have us turn in the answers to the questions instead of doing the CASE PROJECTS as we were for the first half of class, and now I'm even more frustrated than ever before with this book. There are NO details when there need to be details. There is too much detail when there doesn't need to be detail. I am going to complain to the instructors and insist as best as possible that this book no longer be used. If you are studying for the Microsoft Exam, DO NOT BUY this book.

Summary: Testbook used in my MCSE class
Review: This book is very well written with easy to follow hands on exercises that introduce you to the new Windows 2000 Professional components. It assumes some basic knowledge of course, but you shouldn't be going for your MCSE unless you have that experience anyways. Included CD is great for practice tests, and the text has very few misprints. Those that I have found are contradicted along the way (with the correct info) so you are able to pick them out. Great Tips that prevent you from falling into common traps.

Summary: Waste time and waste money
Review: This is a terrible and boring textbook.

I was enforced to buy this book because of my lecture. This book is expensive when compare many MCSE books on the market, and this book unorganized and boring book content.

At the end of each chapter, the review questions are too simple and easy for MCSE, and the questions are not enough for preparing MCSE examination. This book should not put "USE TO PREPARE FOR MCSE". The content of each chapter is not very organized.

There are not enough hand on exercise in hand-on project of each chapter. Not practical book for MCSE.

Summary: This Book is Horrible
Review: Too bad there is no zero ratings cause this book would defintatly receive it. The two people that gave this book a good rating must have been paid off by the two authors. Or it could be Ed Tittel and James M Stewart rating it five stars. I dont even want to give any more thought about this book cause it's wasting my time writing this.
