Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good stuff
Review: A little outdated but covers the basics of what you'll need to build your own dream machine.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A Great Read for the Inexperienced PC Builder
Review: First off, Lloyd's book is very informative for someone interested in building a PC gaming rig. However, the rating for this book was intermediate-advanced and I feel that this book should have been rated for beginner-intermediate. The mete of the book talks about how a computer breaksdown code to give 3D sound and graphics. What I was looking for was a book that starts with the construction and optimization of the ultimate gaming PC. I was really looking for troubleshooting conflicts and tweaking the BIOS. I liked the book but can only give it three stars only for its misrating. (note: Lloyd Case's hardware reviews and articles at Gamespot are more informative for the intermediate-advanced crowd.) =-)

Summary: This book has it all
Review: I borrowed this book from the public library but now I am buying it as an easy to read resource in my computing library. As a new comer to building computers as a hobby, I found this book extremely helpful. Not only did it help me build a superb gaming machine at a reasonable price, but it also gave me a great foundation in the science of how things work and and interact inside my computer. This understanding will help me for years to come. Thanks for a great book!

Summary: Learn about DirectX, 3D graphics, 3D audio and more...
Review: I've included lots of good stuff about DirectX, OpenGL, 3D graphics hardware and 3D positional audio. So even if you're not planning on building your own PC, this book can help you understand the inner workings of Windows games, and how your hardware works with them.

It's also a great resource if you're technically very savvy, but have a lot of friends who pester you for advice. Point them to this book, and many of their questions will be answered.

I'd love to hear comments and questions from readers, so I can incorporate them into future editions.

Summary: The Ultimate PC Bible
Review: This book was awesome. It explained how the parts of your PC work plus it has instructions on buying Parts and constructing your pc. Definitely a must-have.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: VERY outdated
Review: This has to be at least 3 or 4 years old. I dont see how you could advise people on building the ULTIMATE game pc today by using 4 year old technology.

However it does give a rather nice description of how thing inside the computer work.
