Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: Concise, clear and informative. A must have for those who want to past the A+ exam. I also recommend buying the rest of the sample questions in the cd-rom. The best way to study is to read over the book once and take the sample questions and go back to the book if necessary. I've would've give it 5 stars but find the Dos/Windows a bit lean.
Rating: Summary: Most highly recommended read for the A+ Certification Review: Exceptionally good read with analogies and illustrations that make each subject stand out vividly. This book is targeted for the apprentice PC technician and is invaluable in attaining an A+ Certification. I used this book, coupled with Jean Andrews A+ Certification, as the primary references for the A+ exams and scored 95% on the Core and 91% on the Dos/Windows exam. I can hardly wait for his Network books coming later this year.
Rating: Summary: An excellent choice! Review: Well, I have to admit that I am surprised with this book. It is very clear and easy-to-understand and covers a lot of data. The only thing that I have noticed that I dont like that much is that the book is not devided in CORE and DOS/WIN module, making you read it all then then take both exams.
Rating: Summary: Made the Exam easy to pass with no problem. Review: There were some misspelled words in this book, but anyone that knows the subject matter should be able to figure it out. This book covers all of the material that is on the exam. Make sure you follow all chapters and don't skip any.
Rating: Summary: Is this a PC for Dummies book or an A+ Prep book? Review: I bought this book, read about 100 pages, and then returned it. The typos were just the half of it. It would touch on certain subjects, but it wouldn't go in-depth till later chapters. There were no prep questions to help out at the end of the chapter, and I just didn't trust that the author who wrote it was very qualified .. Just some gut feeling. Good thing I got my money back for it.
Rating: Summary: Content excellent and thorough Review: Excuse me, "computer" LO
Rating: Summary: Content excellent and thorough Review: This book is excellent, and extremely thorough. However, as the reviewer below me mentions, it also contains misspellings - which can be very important concidering the technicalities and acronyms which are so prevalent in the compter industry. However, considering how the reviewer below me spells words like "sentances", I thought you might like to hear this confirmed from another source.
Rating: Summary: Very good for test prep, but LOTS of typos..... Review: This was the second book that I purchased to prepare myself for the A+ exam. The first was the "A+ For Dummies" book. The second was an "Exam Cram." For me, coming from a non-computing background, this was a very good combination. I was very impressed with the completeness of the book, and how it dissected many of the more complicated concepts for better comprehension.Truthfully, I wasn't too disappointed with the absence of any practice questions. There are plenty of exam questions out there on the Web, although the inclusion of a practice test would have made things a little better. Overall, I loved the book, and would have given it 5 stars, if it were not for all of the typos (they drove me absolutely nuts). The publisher should have paid someone to proof-read the book before they released it to the public. By the way, for anyone wanting good information on A+ test preparation, take peek at WWW.APLUSTUTOR.COM. It is best place to begin for those just starting out on their search for great resources (books, practice tests, advice, etc). Good Luck!!!
Rating: Summary: No recommendation here! Review: Someone did a lousy job of proofreading this book. A lot of misspelled words, words left out of sentances. Poorly put together. Too much history and too much jumping around. I found it very boring. The book did not keep my attention, therefore I lost interest. I'm having to force myself to start reading this book again. I do not recommend this book to study for the A+ Certification exam.
Rating: Summary: I'd give more than 4 stars but not 5. Review: Very informative and in depth. Minor typographical errors can hinder understanding. A few noticeable errors. A few direct conflicts within different sections of the text as far as information accuracy is concerned. Overall very good text. Needs better information presentation and layout. Lacks summarizing reviews. Better than a number of other books on the topic.
