Summary: Overall................Good but not Great
Review: ON THE UP-SIDE: This book goes in depth about the core components of a PC. It assumes that you have little knowledge about a PC which is good for beginners. It is very thorough and has easy to follow illustrations.

ON THE DOWN-SIDE: The DOS/WIN portion of the book isn't as useful for test taking purposes. If anything, the book goes too deep for modern DOS usage. And the test is more about Windows 95 than DOS or WIN 3.X

Overall it is a good learning tool but to pass both parts of the A+ you might consider an additional study guide.....especially for the DOS/WIN portion. I don't think I would have passed the DOS/WIN test if I had only read this book.

Summary: This book will get you 90% of the way to A+ certification
Review: Michael Meyers covers it all in this aptly titled "All In One" guide. Humor is nicely sprinkled throughout the book; however, the copy I purchased (not on this site, in late July 1998) was infested with more than its share of typographic errors. My copy of the accompanying CD-ROM contained test questions which nearly (almost word-for-word) matched several of those I encountered on the Core and DOS/Win exams (I passed both on my first try!). It's a must-buy, but don't rely on it solely ... scan the Web sites for other test questions to get you 100-percent prepared.

Summary: Best A+ and PC Hardware guide on the market
Review: This is for people who want to understand and use the test material for the actual job. If you just want to memorize for the test I found the Dummies guide short and quicker to the point. I used this book when I wanted to understand what was really going on. I read 3 different books before the Test because I thought it would be harder than it was. Mike's is the only one I still use to refresh how stuff really works. The Network+ Guide sequel is also excellent.

Summary: This is the only book you really need to past the A+ Exam
Review: I just passed the A+ exam on Monday March 29th, 1999. I got "93" on the Core and "82" Dos/Windows. This book covers everything you need know to pass both exams. The photos and illustrations are excellent and really help you to understand the concepts of what the author is trying to say in text. My only complaints are that they were no practice questions at the end of each chapter and that the additional questions on the CD cost an another $79.00 exculding the price of the book. To save money, I used the "Exam Cram" and pulled a lot of free exams questions off the internet to help supplement this book. If you want to pass the exam, this is the book to use.

Summary: A+ For Mr. Myers
Review: After extensive research for A+ study materials I decided on Michael Meyers "All-in-one A+ Certification Exam Guide". Mr. Meyers writing style was an easy and interesting read. I followed his advice and read it cover to cover before starting my actual exam prep and it was worth the full read. I also purchased the extra exam questions on the CD. They were worth every penny. The book is also a great reference tool that should be in any tech's tool box. I also passed the A+ Certification Exam. Thank you Mr. Myers.

Summary: GRRRREEEEAAAATTTTT PC TECH BOOK
Review: Hey, I used this book in my PC Hardware class in college. This book is awsome when it comes to stuff you will need to know in "real life". This is by no means a cram guide however. It is VERY detailed and wordy. This will actually require you to learn not only what you need for the test, but the work bench as well. I would not recommend this for the A+ exam. I would get exam cram for that. However, this would be a great desk reference, albeit, is does get into history and theory a bit. You just have to "learn" how to read it.

Summary: It wasn't bad at all
Review: What a recall.... I had so much fun with it, and it was my friend whenever I needed help. Now I gave this book to my dear friend whom I care a lot. I miss this book. It was my first book I bought for my IT certification. I read it again and again and again. Of course I recieved near perfect score on A+ Exam. Very well written book. It is very thick but don't get scared... Lots of pictures and illustrations. If you are on to IT certification and chosen A+ is the first one, this is the book for you. This book will walk you with ease on your exam. Everytime I see this book, I feel like it's a comic book. On my memory... It wasn't bad at all...

Summary: Very good if you are willing to take the A+ exams.
Review: Are you planning to take the A+ certification? This book is a good option for learning its program and tests style. Also, as this book is full of hardware explanations, it is very useful for all who wants to learn more about the subject, even if you are not willing to take this exam.

Summary: Great Reference Book, not a Great Study Guide.
Review: This is a great reference book for any support tech but I would not recomend it as as a study guide for the A+ Certification. Although I haven't seen them, I'm guessing that Exam Cram or Sams Teach Yourself would have a better study guide for certification.

I've been A+ certified for almost two years now and will still refer back to this book. It's a great addition to any technical library and would be a great suppliment for any other A+ certification study program.

Summary: Best hardware/ Win9x configuration book on the market
Review: This book covers desktops and peripherals in-depth. While it may be more than you need to know to pass the A+ test, what's wrong with a technician that knows more than is required? It's also the only book I'm aware of that covers configurations in-depth including editing the msdos.sys file. Great reference guide for any technician, even if you've already passed the test.
