Rating: Summary: Not Impressed Review: Another nerd-book on the .NET bandwaggon. Full of typos and nothing to distinguish it from the crowd - sorry :o(
Rating: Summary: ASP.NET Review Review: I have been through most of the chapters in the book and I can confidently say that this book gives a wholesome picture of ASP.NET.Some chapters, especially XML in .NET framework has a good collection of examples and description of most of the XML classes used in .NET framework. The ASP.NET server controls and data access chapters provide a good perspective of the power of ASP.NET.The soul of ASP.NET, autopostback and stateful server controls are illustrated well with effective examples. On a whole, I feel this book would be a good source for developers as well as newbies to .NET programming!
Rating: Summary: Pretty good if what you want is learning ASP.NET Review: I'll admit first off, I'm a bit biased since I'm a coauthor of this book, but I was rather surprised after I got my copy and started reading it. I've bought many .NET books (covering C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET), and each one has done a pretty good job with at the very least introducing each topic. I haven't found one book yet that actually covers everything start to finish, even the Professional C# book by Wrox, which gives you a taste of everything but lacks in a number of categories (although is still a great reference book). This book, however, does a very good job of starting at the beginnings of ASP.NET and introducing and explaining almost all factors of web applications in .NET (except web services, which this book lacks a bit on -- it could have many more examples to help out). The other thing this book lacks (and every book I've seen so far) is information on building custom user controls. Aside from those 2 places I can find this book lacking, this book definitely excels in explaining a good deal of the ASP.NET server controls, configuration files, caching, a good introduction to using XML in .NET, and in general enough examples to fully explain pretty much evertyhing ASP.NET related. The only other problem I can find are a few typos in the text and some strange HTML tags in a few of the section headers (did we forget to review the output before we printed?). Overall, I would definitely suggest this book as a quick-read type of book for the semi-experienced .NET programmer to use as a reference manual, and a very good start to building ASP.NET applications to the newcomer .NET programmer.
Rating: Summary: Good one Review: IT is a good one...GEt a good knowledge about basics
Rating: Summary: Excellent book Review: People that feel more comfortable with larning from examples can find sample implementations of almost everything one can do on the web in this book. The examples are clear and easily extensible. Excellent reference for every web developer!!!
Rating: Summary: Why does a writer has to review his own book? Review: Since the writer has to review his own book, you already know that he has a lack of self-confidence
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: The book reveals the complexity of the asp.NET technology in a very easy to read and comprehensive way. Excellent for people that prefer larning from examples - you will find asp.NET implementation for almost every problem that you may have as a web developer. Excellent daveloper's handbook!!!
Rating: Summary: A must book for APS.NET developers Review: This book distinguishes itself from other ASP.NET books in that 1. It categorizes its instruction to the ASP.NET, which helps me to have a clear understanding on each subject such as ASP.NET server controls, configuration files, caching, data access. 2. It provides many easy-to-implement examples to let me to have a hands-on experience on the subject I am dealing with. 3. If you are an XML fun like me, you will find that the instruction and examples about implementation of XML in ASP.NET is super! Overall, this is a great book on ASP.NET for serious ASP programmers!
Rating: Summary: ASP.Net is a Wonderful Book Review: This book is an excellent book. ASP.Net has biggener concepts as well as advanced concepts. It is really a valuable book that you will use over and over
Rating: Summary: Look at the date of the previous reviews Review: This is an old book now in 2004. Besides, it should be clear somewhere that the examples are written in VB.Net and also that, by the time this book`s edition was released, version 1.1 of .Net Framework was not available since it was released in April 2003.
