Rating: Summary: The only dedicated book on Administration for WebLogic Serve Review: I was looking for a good book that can help me not only learn WebLogic Server administration rather help me in my day today assignment activities.Referred to many other to books on WebLogic in market but didnt work for me untill this book came out. Also, there are a couple of books on administration which I found are not out still and wont be out for long.. I cannot rely on 6.0 and 6.01 books for my job on 7.0 WebLogic Server. This makes sense. My special thanks for McGraw Hill and authors for such a nice text on WebLogic Server administration. Ratna.
Rating: Summary: only book out there covering 7.0 Review: If you're looking for a book on version 7.0 this is the only book out there. Well written.
Rating: Summary: Very little insight ...... Review: In my opinion this book contains too many step-by-step procedures (in tedious detail with diagrams), but contains very little insight into the reasoning behind any step or choice. Without the reasoning or insight, these procedures become essentially useless. Sometimes terms are not even defined clearly. I tried to use it to set up Weblogic 7.0 server and it was not helpful at all. (Previously I was running Weblogic 5.1).

Rating: Summary: Waste of money Review: It is one of the most frustrating books I ever read. This book does not cover the in-depth knowledge required to perform administrative tasks. It provides screen shots and lists (most of the time incomplete) steps to complete a task. As a Bea WebLogic Administrator it offered me minimal help.
Rating: Summary: A Thorough Administration Guide Review: Its a thorough guide and reference book for learning and acquiring necessary skills for administering WebLogic Server 7. Great values for the price...
Rating: Summary: Fairly decent book. Review: The book is okay. But the Weblogic Admin documentation is much better source.
Rating: Summary: Very poor overview of BEA Weblogic Server 7.0 Review: The book serves as an introduction to Weblogic to the uninitated and for thoose evaluating the product. Otherwise it is not worth the purchase cost, does not have enough expertise, explanations or real world examples. No real explanation or rationale is given for many aspects of Weblogic. The books content is made up largely of rehashed information, large screen shots, large type, deployment descriptors and pictures. A non weblogic developer could come up with this book in a short time indeed. There is very little here of enough interest to satisfy either an administrator or a developer interested in weblogic. Save your money and go elsewhere. Cannot reason why anyone who are in their right mind and have read this book could give it more than three stars. Beware..better still just avoid entirely!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book for BEA Weblogic 7 Administration Review: This book covers almost everything for Weblogic 7 administration. This book contains excellent easy to understand examples. Graphical content is very good and well explained. I am very much impressed with the work done by authors. Sam
Rating: Summary: Just Ok in my Opinion Review: This book is ok but it can't compare with the BEA Weblogic Server Bible. The Bible only convers Weblogic Versions 6.0 and 6.1 but it has a lot more information on Server Adminstration from a Developers perspective then this book does. For example if I wanted to know how about Parameters or options for deploying JSP, this book will not get you there but the Bible will. Same thing with JMS in my opinion. The Bible has more information on both pure Administration and Administration from a Developers Perspective.
