Rating: Summary: Eager for publication date Review: Actually I can't wait to get my hands on it - I have a project and am trying to work from Allaire's help and it is frustrating. When is this going to be out? I fear that I will have to resort to something else to meet my deadline. Real review to follow upon publication.
Rating: Summary: Only 5 Stars it should be at least 6 Stars Review: After developing hundreds of websites, and purchased all the major website HTML develomental programs. I tossed them all for Homesite. In a sentence, "It's truly a professional web developer's tool, but easy enough for anyone to use." It is more than an editor. I've been using it since version 1.0, and I still haven't learned or used all of it's capabilities. I have tons of cgi, java, and html code in "snippets" and I plug and play many modules. It's a must for any one who wants to develop professional sites. It's power with ease of use. If you are going to buy any HTML editor, it's got to be this one.
Rating: Summary: Yes, I did owe it to myself Review: As Ben Forta says, if someone hasn't tried HomeSite, he or she owes it to herself. Absolutely. Ben actually did a favour to me. Now that I have completed the book, I am on my way to learning Cold Fusion. And yes, I am certainly going for his next title on ColdFusion... and no doubt about that.Functionalities were explained in a way as it evolves. He actually answered all my questions for me. Isn't that great ? He also included a lot of suggestions (obviously from his reputable experience) which I am going to follow religiously in my future web application developments. Thanks Ben, Thanks SAMS, Thanks Allaire. Tarique A Bhuiyan
Rating: Summary: Design GREAT sites in no-time. Review: Ben Forta has done it again. This is a GREAT book to teach yourself HTML and HOMESITE. In 24 hours you'll be fluent in html and the great editor -Allaire's Homesite. Even if you know HTML, this book is a great reference tool. If you truly want to build great sites, read Ben's book and throw away Microsoft FrontPage, you'll thank yourself, and your website visitors will thank you
Rating: Summary: This is an excellent book. Review: Excellent book written by a very good teacher. Within a few hours I was developing unbelievable pages thanks to Ben Forta. I hope to find many more books written in a similar fashion on other topics.
Rating: Summary: Finally! Help with HomeSite. Review: For those who do not build web sites from a programming background--but are not satisfied with often intrusive HTML "authoring help", i.e., programs that change your saved code--this book looks as if it will be a lifesaver. HomeSite has long been acknowledged as the leading HTML editor, however, unless you already knew the "keys" to using the HS interface, tools, shortcuts, etc., a new user could often be totally frustrated. The Allaire software documentation is dismal, and with no way in, many new users might simple pass this very excellent software by. Fortunately, Ben Forta has taken the situation in hand with "STYHS4in24Hrs". While part of this book's 24-hour approach takes the stance that the reader may never have developed any material for the web, other areas cover the HS interface in the context of progressive site development. For example, there are certain "save" features, unique to HomeSite, that are well worth exploring. If you are a more intermediate website developer, this book is still a great value. You can quickly get beyond basic up-front explanations of LANs, etc., and go directly to specific application pages that quickly pace you through HS and potentially take hours off your project development time. Additionally, the tips, self-paced quizzes, and contextual pacing are well integrated into the instructional content. As a very user-friendly book, this one looks like a winner. I have reviewed a number of pre-publication chapters made available to me by the publisher, and I look forward to seeing the full publication

Rating: Summary: The first book on HomeSite - the very best HTML editor! Review: HomeSite has long been recognized as the premier HTML editor, and has received significant recognition as such. From humble shareware origins, HomeSite has grown into a powerful and capable application, and one that appeals to web developers of every experience level. HomeSite was created by Nick Bradbury (who also wrote the forward for this book). When HomeSite became so popular that Nick could no longer support it himself he sold it to Allaire (the same folks who brought you ColdFusion). HomeSite is now an important part of the Allaire product line, and is the basis for the company's ColdFusion Studio development environment. I am an avid HomeSite fan, and have personally been using HomeSite for as long as I care to remember. It is therefore with great pride that I present the very first book on HomeSite - Sams Teach Yourself HomeSite 4 in 24 Hours (covering HomeSite 4 and ColdFusion Studio 4). Whether you are new to HomeSite and ColdFusion Studio, or are an experienced user, this book will teach you how to take advantage of this incredible tool, enabling you to leverage it's features to enhance your development efforts. Some of the topics covered include: * Using Tag Editors, Tag Insight, and the Tag Inspector * Working with images, fonts, colors, and frames * Using the stylesheet editor * Remote development via FTP and RDS * Using Studio's remote debugger * Working with projects * ... and much more
And if you do not currently own HomeSite, a non expiring evaluation version is included on the accompanying CD. I hope you find this book useful, and I welcome you to the ever growing family of HomeSite fans!
Rating: Summary: My First HomeSite Book Review: I borrowed this book from the local library. Actually I was looking for the HomeSite 4.5 for the dummies, but had to settle for this one since I couldn't find it. The book says teach yourself in 24 hours and I think it really meant it. I managed to digest most of them in a few days working to about 24 hours in all. It's a very simple book to teach you the fundamentals on HomeSite. I found it to be too brief in some of the topics. Just teach you the most basic stuff. It could be better if the book could give more examples. In summary, this is a good book if you just want to know how do get started. You will still need another book on HTML to do the more advanced stuff.
Rating: Summary: Everything you need to know for HTML basics Review: I bought 2 books on html for reference, and I never needed to even look at the second as this one had everything I needed.
