Summary: Good book so far...
Review: After read so many reviews on Oracle book for Developer 2000, I went to book store and read it by meself. Not too bad as many voted for this book. I found it's pretty helpful for my project, and practical to use...not just theory like other books. However, this book has very poor index..very difficult to search by keywords.

Summary: Use of CD instruction is totally confusing
Review: At a very minimum, I would expect Albert Lulushi to write a comprehensive instruction on how to load examples of his application into Oracle 8. I never found the CD useful because I can't populate my database with examples on the CD. The preface lack a clear cut instruction on how to populate database with the examples in the book. The fact that there's no clear instruction render the book and the CD perfectly USELESS.

Summary: This is the best computer book I've ever seen.
Review: Excellent book. Coherent design, with developing your own forms through the book. The author simply knows what he is talking about. Many real life solutions for real life problems in the complicated world of Oracle. With this book the learning curve for Developer/2000 is flat. If you want to be sure that after reading only 1 book you'll be able to finish your first Forms project, get it. This is the best computer book I've ever seen.

Summary: Not a bad book
Review: Good book for new commers but it takes a while to understand the internals of it. Plus Developer Forms is too complex to put into one book. It gets very cumbersome to look through the book. Need to improve the index better, because many genral terms are not included in it such as "data blocks". Programmers live for the index.

Summary: not useful!
Review: I am extemely dissatisfied with this book. It is as though the author cannot decide if the intended audience is already familliar with developing forms applications in the developer 2000 environment. Consequently, it gives too little information for both the new and experienced users. The information it does present is repetative and poorly organized. If you buy this book, and go through it chapter by chapter, you will have an idea of what can be done with Developer 2000 forms, but no idea of how to do it! Don't buy this book.

Summary: Completely Disorganized
Review: I am not impressed with either the book's layout or Lulushi's style. I misses certain basic concepts completely and glosses over others. Additionally, the index is painfully bare - good luck trying to look anything up!

Summary: Excellent for newcomers to Forms, needs more complex code
Review: I bought the book as it is one of very few available that covers Forms 5.0. I am a newcomer to Forms and needed something to get me up and running. This book was ideal for this purpose. It thoroughly covers all features of Forms though it does not give enough detailed examples to make it of use to me in the future. When will there be a book available with a professionally designed / written complex multi-form example which gives extensive coverage of the use of forms triggers, built-in packages and user written packages ?? Will the upcoming 'Oracle Advanced Developer: Forms and Reports' remedy this ?

Summary: Too Bulky and boring
Review: I brought this book and returned it. I recommend another book A GUIDE TO ORACLE by Joline Morrison and Mike Morrison . We use this as a text book for our Oracle Database class. This is a good introductory book published by COURSE Technology, one main street, Cambridge, MA 02142. Topics are Oracle forms, Reports, Graphics, Creating Oracle Database forms,Creating Custom forms, creating custom forms to support business application, Creating Web application with oracle webserver,...... etc

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: I have never written a review on this book before, although I bought it almost 4 years ago. I see nothing wrong with this book. The author took his time creating all the data needed in the book and also giving you the option of loading the data by either copying and pasting or spooling the file already created for you.

The book was precise and very detailed for beginners, intermediate and advance users for quick reference. I have finished building the first application three times without any bias mind. I have four books on Form and this is the only one that takes you from the scratch to finish with a standard, working, well built application . THIS IS A GREAT BOOK!!!

Summary: Poorly written and edited.
Review: I just finished reading the ORACLE forms book by Steven Edelstein. It was extremely useful for a new forms developer. I followed it up with ORACLE Developer 2000 Forms by Lulushi. I have been extremely disappointed with this book every step of the way. The first half of the book takes an extroardinarily long amount of time and space to explain the usage of the different Forms editor environments. The first 100 pages would discourage anyone from reading the following 100 pages. I know I didn't read them. I skipped the middle of the book which contains chapters on SQL and PL/SQL since I didn't purchase the book to learn those subjects. Excitedly, I began the second half of the book, because it obviously dealt with Forms objects and triggers in great detail. I began reading the section on Object Libraries. It was poorly written, but I decided to grind on. When I read the step by step instructions for using the Object Libraries, it was incomprehensible. I looked for words used which I might not understand. I found none. I read it again and again. It became obvious that the book was so poorly edited, that sentences had been left incomplete, and separate sentences had been incorrectly joined together. This book would discourage anyone from attempting to use ORACLE Forms. This book could have been very succesful. Where was the editorial staff?
