Summary: Excellent resource
Review: I have been using this text in a software project management course that I am teaching and have found it to be a great resource. The majority of my students have been from a technical background and are exploring the possibilities of moving to project management. This book has served as an excellent source of information or foundation for learning the SDLC process. Some discussion of UML and Use Case Analysis should be brought into the book in a newer revision.

Summary: This book is meant for both project managers and teachers.
Review: I intended this book for both the manager of a small to medium sized IT project, as well as well as the teacher of a graduate or post graduate course. Although the examples and case studies in the book are about 5-10 person, 6-18 month projects, the methods described can be applied to projects of any size and any scope within the information technology industry. I have been complemented on the organization of the book, in that it covers a simple methodology, tools and techniques such as estimating and use of project management sofware, and how to manage people. One case study is used throughout the book, and examples of all project documents are included. An Instructor's Guide is available free by e-mail from the author john@rakos.com.

Summary: Must have, it's excellent!
Review: If you are a Technical or Software Project Manager, I recommend you this excellent book. I believe all the concepts in this book will be valid for many decades to come. I have purchased many project management books, but none of them cover the day to day practical issues presented in this book. The book contains important situations on how to handle what goes wrong. It really gives insight on how and what to do to manage a software project towards success.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent Book with complete project management life cycle.
Review: This book covers all aspect of Project Mangement in a single book with practical experiences. I felt like experiencing most of the topics in my career and gave me new direction for managing current project. This book is a big help in my day to day life.

Summary: Software Project Management for Small to Medium Sized Projec
Review: This book is primarily useful for a "newbie" project manager, or for a project team member who is ramping up on standard IT project management practice and process. It could be much more useful were it to explain how PM methodology and templates change for web development (collaborative PM) engagements, by treating the benefits and pitfalls of use cases, and with a more narrative treatment of change control.
