Summary: Redundant Title
Review: After several years on AOL, I have come to realize that they do not make anything simple or easy. I thought I knew on the in's and out's of shortcuts and tricks on AOL but I was mistaken. The authors did a great job of compiling every question members have ever asked and answers that actually explain themselves. Rather than simply telling the reader this is how to achieve this goal, they walk you through each process. I also have the quick reference for work and I wish I had about forty copies for each of our salesmen who all seem to be computer illiterate. lol

Summary: An excellent guide for the beginner
Review: Although the title suggests otherwise, John Kaufeld will not make you feel like a "dummy" as you breeze through the pages of his America Online handbook. I purchased this book right after I got online, and using AOL like a "pro" in no time flat! Kaufeld has a special knack for writing to the average Joe that is not well-versed in technical terminology, hence the "dummies" title, but as you read the book, the jargon will come to you. If you're feeling a bit frustrated with AOL, or even if you just want to learn a bit more about it, I would definitely advise investing in a copy of "America Online for Dummies". You'll set this book next to your computer, read a chapter or two every day, and even keep it next to your computer even after you finish it as a reference guide - it's an invaluable resource, to say the least.

Summary: Easy to follow...easy to read
Review: Basic and fun to read. Lots of good info to make anyone an AOL expert. From the novice to the expert. Plenty of info on getting started and learning to use the different applications on the program. A real winner!

Summary: Redundant Title
Review: I believe the title of this book, "America Online for Dummies," is redundant. They should just called it "America Online" since the "for dummies" part is already implied. Only dummies use AOL, so the title of this book would be like saying "Dentistry for Dentists."

Summary: This is a reference to the online service, America Online
Review: I thought that this book was one of the greatest books about Amercia Online ever. I think that the book gave many in depth and detail and easy explainations to all of the problems and things that are on America Online. One of the things that What I really love was when they explained about the MAIN.IDX file, and why that is the file that builds up space on your hard drive. It also explained to me how not to download deadly viruses that can totally tear up your computer. I feel bad for the person who wrote the book because not may people have the America Online version 4.0 YET. At this current moment, that is the version that is explained in the book, The Book also explains about the chat rooms and how they work. Well, now all of the icons and the Art work of the chat has changed, and looks better now. But for a person who just started using the Preview version or the full version of America Online, they may think that they are in the wrong chat room.

Summary: It was the best reference book about AOL that I have read
Review: I was completely new to the whole AOL experience when I purchased this book. I read it cover to cover in two days. It was very easy to comprehend and I loved the way John Kaufeld added humor throughout the whole book. I refer to it on several occasions and usually find something new to experience that I missed before. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is starting out on AOL who needs simple but complete guidance.

Summary: It was GREAT!!
Review: John Kaufeld is the best computer author I've ever read. His book was knowedgable and informative. The best thing about his books is that he updates the book every time new AOL software is released, so I can ALWAYS read the latest stuff. I spend a HUGE amount of time on AOL, and I even learned some stuff I'd never known before! I would also reccomend his Online Games book, also in the "--for dummies" series.
