Summary: BAD BOOK
Review: This is one of the worst exam prep. book i've ever seen. IT doesn't even cover all of the material, materials which are imperative to the test. The info. in this book is presented in a very unorganized way. They need to reorganize this book in a manner which will be easily understand by an amateur/intermediate reader. Plus, it only spend like 130 pages for hardware. Just buy David Groth's 700 pg. for the hardware part. If u already know ur stuff, then you can just skim through this book..other than that, i have no use for this book.

Summary: Concise, Clear, and Reliable.
Review: I recently took the A+ Certification test and passed with flying colors, which can be partially accreditted to this book and partial to my 6 years of experience with computers. The book was useful because it was to the point. I don't want to picture my DMA Channel as a Car and my DMA Controller as a crossing guard, nor my IRQ's as a whining child. I like it to be told how it is and this book does an excellent job.

Summary: A Good Reference Book; Not for A+
Review: It has way too much info for the A+ Test, Nothing on Modems AT commands, and Multimeter Testing; least 4 questions on the test. They even incorrectly state that, SCSI Chain can have upto 7 Devices. Its actually 8 Devices. Its on the test too.

Way too much Data for A+ Study, Material may even confuse you. Look Elsewhere!

Summary: Excellent book for experience technician to use as a review.
Review: I would say if you have three to five years of solid experience as a computer service technician, and you are looking to become A+ certify, purchase this book. Don't even think about spending hundreds of dollars on an A+ certification training kit. Along with the information in the book, and your experience as a technician, acing the A+ exam is guarantee. I was able to ace both of the exams, A+ core and Dos/Windows, in less than 45 minutes. I scored a 93 on the core, and a 94 on the Dos/Windows. Sure there were some errors in the book, but not enough to distract from the purpose of the book; which is to prepare you for passing both exams. I would also recommend that you purchase mcpprep's A+ exam bundle practice test.

Summary: Can Pass with this book
Review: I bought this book based on the reviews written here. It did deliver as promised. I passed with an 87 and an 89. Would like to have done better but I passed. This book is all I used but I was somewhat familiar with computers. It does have alot of inconsistent data from section to section such as in the Core part it says systems files start in such and such an order in DOS, Windows 3.x and Windows 95 and in the 95 sections it gives them in a different order and says this is the order in which they load. Still not sure about that one. It also list a 486 as the minimum for running Windows95 while the book I am currently reading lists it as a 386. All in all it is a good book and you can pass both tests using it alone just double check any confusing data with another source. You can also check Exam Crams website for a listing of known errors so you can correct them before you start studying.

Summary: Great Study Guide, well written and to the point
Review: I Just pass both exam using only this book and the A+ Certification Exam Guide. I got "93" on the Core and "82" on the Dos/Windows. This book was an excellent supplement to the A+ Cert. Exam Guide. It's covers just about everything you need to Cram for the exam. The only weak spot was the lack of information regarding Modems. If you just want to pass, then this book will help you do just that.

Summary: Excellent last minute review
Review: This book cuts out a lot of un-neccessary info you don't really need to pass the exam. It also gives good references to other publications after each section. I have been reading this book along with the David Groth books & feed confident that I will pass the exam (next week)

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Comprehensive study guide, but not enough practice questions
Review: This book is a good low cost summary. Covers about everything although not in as much depth as some of the Cybex books and does not outline terminology in the best way. Definetly worth the money.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: don't take the test without this
Review: While there are a few minor errors here and there, this book really boiled down the essentials for me. I was in and out of the exam center in 35 minutes. Sure there were a few questions the book didn't cover but by and large, I knew I was passing the test before I got done because so many questions werecovered in the book. Many quesions were on the sample tests. I have given the book to several friends and they have had the same success
