Summary: If only I'd known this stuff earlier
Review: If only I had known 10 percent of what's in this book a little while ago, I could have made some money, and I could have helped clients make some money. If you're in the business of creating websites for others, or if you're the webmaster in your own company, this book is required reading.

Summary: Yes Virginia, you can make an honest buck on the Web ...
Review: If you're thinking about entering the world of affiliate marketing--or if your present efforts have been less than successful--you need this book!

"The Complete Guide to Associate and Affiliate Programs on the Net" is a hype-free, easy-to-read introduction to the topic. It's filled with exclusive information based on exhaustive research. This book explains how it all works, as it tells the real world stories of folks that have made affiliate marketing work for them.

Affiliate marketing is for real. People are making hundreds, even thousands, of dollars from their Web sites each month. I've done it. You can too.

Summary: Needs updating
Review: Most of the advice from this book is still relevant, generate a high volume site that is 'sticky' for users and pick appropriate affiliate schemes. It does provide useful advice e.g. to utilize your existing web sites and links to help build volume.

In isolation, this book is insufficient. Unless you already have a good traffic volumes, you will have to gain an understanding of search engine positioning and viral marketing to get your site traffic up. Only good content will get people to stay. If you are writing content just to generate affiliate sells (some people do), you should be looking at how you can generate more income from the content than affiliate sells only (e.g. do you have a related product or service you can sell?).

Since 1999, affiliate programs have come, gone and changed. In this respect the book is out of date. Good introduction but showing its age - affiliate sells should be part of an overall strategy unless your doing it for pocket money.

Summary: Very basic advice
Review: Offers nonsensical advice such as "work hard to get a good ranking is the search engines"... and also keeps promoting the same few affiliate programs which leads me to believe the author has dealings with those companies.

You can get a lot of the advice for free from various websites.

Only for total novices who don't know anything about the net.

Summary: Partnerprogramme.com recommends this book
Review: The author Dan Gray gives a well written, informed introduction explaing how associate programs work, how they can be used and what to look for. While the book is a must read for beginners, advanced webmaster will find provided information useful too, due to survey data and statistics compiled. Gray shows examples how creative affiliates used associate program. The book includes a directory of Top 100 associate programs selected by Gray.

Summary: Good for newcomers to affiliate marketing
Review: This book is quite clearly laid out and easy to understand. It covers quite a range of topics. It is very good for those that don't know what affiliate marketing is. It will also give you some helpfull hints to get you onto the right track. I think the most usefull part is the chapter where it discusses the top 100 affiliate programs. That should give you an idea of what works and what doesn't. Unfortunately there are some areas where I felt the author could have given more in depth knowledge. I also don't agree with his statement that you are wasting your money on advertising. There are some people in the industry (not myself though) that are successfull with advertising. According to him, you should only persue search engines and directories. Good for beginners, but keep looking if you have been in affiliate marketing for a while. Despite some negative comments, I think the book represents value for money.

Summary: nice start, needs to go to the next level
Review: This is a good book that initiates what many marketers should do. It outlines the process of creating an affiliate program, but lacks some of the depth into how to go about doing it, and what should be beneath the surface of a successful program.

I would suggest Make Your Website Work For You, and also Killer Content to fill in the gaps.
