Summary: Good exam guide, but not perfect
Review: A a Citrix Certified Instructor and CCEA, I welcome this bookto help new Citrix admins past the exam. This book is actually betterthan the standard training book coming from Citrix and is certainlycheaper. The questions aren't always up-to-date, but overall it'sok...The combination of this book and some on-hands experience withMetaframe is a sure bet to pass the CCA exam.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not so good for exam
Review: Although the material in the book is useful and similar to the Citrix training course, it is not really focused that well on the actual CCA exam. In particular, the exam questions (while of value in learning the product) should not be used as your sole test prep. If the book did not advertise itself as a test prep, it would get a higher rating from me, but it does not really do what it promises. Please note that I am a CCEA, CCA & CCI, familiar with Citrix tests.

Summary: Excellent preparation for the CCA MetaFrame 1.8 exam.
Review: As a Citrix Certified Instructor and Citrix CertifiedEnterprise Administrator, I can strongly recommend this book asthorough, yet focused, exam preparation. In my capacity as the Series Editor and as a contributing author, I have helped Syngress to ensure this text provides plentiful and accurate tips for likely exam topics. Additionally, we have provided ample real-world and "From the Classroom" scenarios to help bring depth and context to the instruction.

I am very confident that this book will give you the accellerated training you need for the exam, and will also remain a valuable reference resource long after your CCNA certification.

Good luck on your exam!

Summary: Contributors brought top-notch expertise to the table
Review: As one of the contributors to this book, I know that all of the people involved brought a wealth of knowledge to the project. The editing (both grammatical and technical) was intense and ensured accuracy. This is the most precise and complete writing on this subject available on the market.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Maybe syngress is not all that bad after all...
Review: I developed a hatred for syngress after studying hard for the MCDBA, only to find that their book was based on the beta version and was more like a story than an informative guide. I was skeptical about trying another book from them, but being the only cca guide out there, and seeing the other ratings made me take the chance. All that being said, the book is right on for the exam, and the questions on the CD were a big help. I passed the exam with flying colors due to my experience, and help from this book.

Summary: Will get you through the CCA exam - if you study !
Review: I recently took and passed the CCA exam using this book - overall it was excellent preparation.

This isn't a tough exam because of the restricted range of material - if you know it well, you will pass.

Some minor niggles : The book covers each certification objective separately, which can lead to a sense of deja vu in some places, as the same material is covered in varying degrees of depth. Also, some of the specific information required for the test appears in screen shots rather than in the text itself.

However, don't let these niggles detract you from what is a good certification preparation text that educates you well in the fundamentals of Metaframe.

I found the preparation test supplied on CD very useful for picking holes in my knowledge, and would be ideal for a beginner to get used to the general format of certification tests - although the actual test is rather more wordy and scenario-based.

Overall, I'd highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking seriously about CCA.

Summary: A good source.
Review: I thought this book was a good source for passing the Metaframe 1.8 exam. Although it didnt seem to cover all the points, its good enough to pass the test. I thought it was a bit weak on the topic of load balancing (which came up on my exam atleast 4 times).

Summary: Your One Stop Guide for Citrix Implementation and CCA Exam
Review: I would like to thank the author for doing a Good Job, this book is a valuable quick reference for Citrix 1.8. I have a one year experience in Citrix and found this book very clear and to the Point. Reading through this book for about 1 to 2 hrs a day over a 3 week period along with the on the Job experience and I was ready for the Test. The "Tips" in the book are in most instances similar to questions on the real test. Get this book !!

Summary: Good book, terrible practice exam.
Review: If all you want is a practice exam, don't buy this book. The book itself has everything you need to pass the exam, but the exam that comes on the CD is very unreliable. I felt like 1 out of every 3 questiojns had some form of incorrect information in it. For me that is way to unreliable.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Great for On The Job reference but doesn't cut it for Exam
Review: Just passed my exam with 88% and it wasn't because of this book. The book does a great job of explaining in detail about add-on products such as Unix Integration and IMS but only the basics are covered on the test. Oh, the first thing that you should do is throw away the CD. About 10% of the questions on the CD are inaccurate and copletely contradict the same questions in the book. Also two topics were not covered in the book such as domain trust relationships and profile/policies relationships which the exam spends quite a great deal on. Bottom line, if you want this for job reference get it, if you want to pass the exam get the Exam Cram series
